This is another post that ties into my nostalgia that i have been going through. lol
UpperDeck i really hope you read this post!
I am very critical of UD on many fronts and i don't want to get into those. this post is for me to tip my hat to them and congratulate them on a set well done.
Lets go back a few years. i know everyone was big on the first year of The Cup in 05-06, for myself i was never and still am not a big fan of that base set design including the RPA's. For me it was
2002-03 Premier Collection:drool:
for best RPA set design, and to this day still is my fav. it had everything, appropriate area for a signature, nice patch window, good player pic area, clean lines, nice foiling and i've always been a fan of the boxy type designs. it may have also had something to do with being the first RPA's every released.
So when i heard that Premier was coming back i was pumped but even more so when i heard in 14-15 they were doing tributes to 02-03 RPA's :beer:
the first weekend it came out i went down to Maple Leaf Sports in calgary, also known as Major Grief Sports, (Darren took the day off and was slacking somewhere) with one intention and that was to pull Sidney Crosby's 02-03 RPA. So i bought my first case and in pack one pulled an Orr auto (which later i traded for a Yzerman signed shadowbox buyback #/3:dance
, in pack three, one of only a very few times i have pulled the card i was buying the product for, there was the 02-03 Sidney Crosby tribute RPA #/25.... redemption:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|
UPPER DECK still has not filled this redemption!!!! which until they do i am no longer buying their products. Sorry this is a sore spot.
Anyways, loved seeing them do this in 15-16 as well and again this year 16-17.
And 16-17's 02-03 tributes is where i need to tip my hat to you UpperDeck. this set is awesome!!! :bliss:
not only did you change the foiling on the silver version from blue silver to gold with gold lettering which is a great touch but you putting in the effort to use pics of the players from their rookie seasons is perfect! Pics of the guys as young men on the cards of the HHOF'ers that i grew up watching makes these cards so collectable for me and well adding primarily super star players this year is also a huge up for me, along with the print runs of /25, /15/ and golds out of /5 you have made my day.
Please keep this going! i would love to see this exact design next year with other players. and i would say do another Crosby with the gold foil or since you haven't gotten him to sign those ones from 14-15 yet, or redo them with the gold.
but get them signed either way!!
on to the show, these are the ones i have picked up so far. i have an upgrade for the Ovechkin incoming so this one will be up for trade or i may just list it on eBay.

This is the only Yzerman i have seen that has a nice auto in the white, the rest are less then good. All of his patches so far have been... but whatev.
