US postal charges?

I know the USPS jumped all their charges on bubblers awhile back, but this surprised me:

Came today, but didn't have a trading card in it... it had a PS3 game, which is pretty thick! How did that get through at $2.85 when all other bubblers seem to be $6+? Very odd.

Seems to depend on the post office. I've had a couple cards mailed in bubble mailers from California and Missouri and the postage charged was only about $2.

That label appears to be one that was printed up from a commercial scale - like one found in an office and not at the USPS.

I would guess that whomever packed it up, pirated some free postage from their place of work, put the wrong amount on and got lucky that it didn't come back or show up with postage due.

also USPS has a class called Media Mail. maybe they classify video games as media. dunno.

It looks like it shipped at the large envelope rate. If you do it right by taking a large reinforced manila envelope and then placing a small, thin bubble mailer inside, you can usually get away with it for much lower rates than mailing the bubble mailer by itself. The envelope is supposed to be flat, but they usually work with you. I have done this the last 4 international shipments successfully. It is still a slight gamble of course. However, I have started to drop my rates to Canada.
