US Registered Mail Delays

Much to my anger - I wanted to warn our members involved in Cross-Border transactions!!!

The last 2 items I sent to Canada from the US via US Registered Mail took EXACTLY 12 & 15 days respectively to get from my place of mailing:
Grand Rapids Michigan
to the Processing Center in :
Buffalo New York

This is BEFORE they even get to Canadian Customs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either they are totally overwhelmed by the volume of my trading or one of the US Postal Services bright new movement systems is really flawed!!!


Since I use Registered Mail as the least expensive method of tacking - this is really sucking wind!!! The only other alternative is Global Express - and that STARTS at $28.50..... NOT!!!



So if you are wondering where your package is from your US sender:
IT is not Canada Post's fault................................this time......... I think.

Wow...that's a little worse than our postal system. Glad to see the "DumDum virus" is widespread and not just contained within the walls of Canada Post.

very possible ... though my last package i sent registered was stuck at customs for the longest before getting delivered this weekend it was at least still on time. last 2 packages i sent regular way with no tracking got delivered in 3-4 days. go figure.

That is because Registered is kept under lock & key every night - so I know it is somewhat slower.
But how in the heck can it take 12 days to go 700 miles to New York????
It should be 1 day to Detroit & 1 day to New York - Sheeesh!

Have you called your local post master?? He/she may be able to shed some light.

One of the last packages I sent to the States, with insurance and tracking I might add, somehow went missing and it couldn't be found. First time I've ever had a package I've sent go missing.

I am having the same problem. I "sent" a package last week, it is still at the post office.

sometimes packages aren't scanned until they get to the other country. it's weird but i've had packages sent from Canada with tracking and the status read it was ACCEPTED by the post office and then no updates until the local facility here scanned it and was processing it for delivery that day.

Just as an FYI for regular mail going the OTHER way, too...I've had two US (from Canada) packages take 4 weeks plus a couple days...luckily both buyers were understanding and I just kept in contact with them.
