Saw this pop up on Ebay a week or so ago and knew I just had to have it. I paid about double what I was expecting to, but finally after receiving it today (on my birthday, ironically) I can say it was well worth it.
So what is it you ask?
It's a hockey puck.
It's a game used hockey puck.
It's a 2004 Western Conference Finals used puck that was used by Ville Nieminen to score a goal.
Not the most valuable game used item, but I think it's one of the coolest in my player collection. I know as a former player that pucks were the one thing that meant the most to me. I know I have my old jerseys somewhere, but my pucks from my first high school goal and collegiate goal are right front center on my shelf and it's cool to have a puck used to score from my favorite player, especially in the playoffs.
The puck came with all the information that Meigray included with these pucks and it was very detailed. There's a copy of the score sheet, a fact sheet about the puck including how many were collected that game, and a 5 page long play-by-play printout of the game.
I'm considering getting it framed if/when I can find a picture of the goal or celebration. I have a bunch of pictures of Ville from that cup run so now I just have to search to see if I have the right one.
