Do you think its time for the coach's challenge, watching right now and the refs can't review Bernier being shoved into his net. I think disputed goals, high sticks and puck over the glass at first should be challenged.

I think that on black & white calls (puck over line, offside, etc first downs in football, fair or foul in baseball), video review should be implemented if its done in a timely and organized manner.

Calls that are subjective (being shoved into the goal, pass interference in football, strikes and balls, etc) should not. The refs make the call as they see it. Both teams should respect that.

Unfortunately, unlike other leagues, the NHL refuses to admit that the referees can make mistakes. This is why you will never see coach challenges.

Sad really, because off the top of my head, I can think of 10 calls last year that would have been overturned if a challenge and video replay could have been opted by the coach. At least three of the ones I can easily think of determined the outcome of the game.

As for that call tonight, that would not have been overturned IMO - it was a Leaf player who first contacted Bernier, Malkin came in afterwards.

They should allow one coach challenge per game. If it is not overturned, a two minute penalty. But like I said, I don't think it will ever happen, as the NHL has the mentality that the officials are perfect, and they would never allow them to look 'bad' during a game.

If you are referring to the Pens 5th goal then yes it should not have counted. I am watching Off the record and landsberg and O'neill both called it a pitch fork move by malkin. O'neill also said if it was John Scott that did that he would have received a minor penalty haha. I think the league should give each team one coaches challenge per team but I doubt that'll ever happen.o
