Vintage grading question...

Hi. I am anxiously awaiting my 1910-11 C56 Fred "Cyclone" Taylor RC in the mail. It will be returned into the mail into one of two grading companies, so my question is which company would you slab it with: SGC or BVG (BGS)? I know vintage cards tend to do well in SGC holders for resale and maybe have better eye for vintage grading, but I like the half point system throughout the grading scale of BGS and the sleeve/holder is more secure for preserving a vintage card. I have a 1909 baseball card that is slabbed BVG, but might have been a slight harsh on the grading. I am not considering PSA at this time, even though most C56's are graded with them. To reference, based on the large scan I have seen and other graded C56's on ebay, this card could grade as high as a 6 or 5ish, so I am weighing my options. I will send it in by itself for value and return time purposes. Sorry for the long read, but to the point, which is better for the collection, resale in the long term not short, and preservation of a old card? Any comments are well appreciated. Thanks,

I realize that you said you weren't considering PSA, but in all honesty I would say PSA would be best for resale value. As you noted yourself, most C56 and vintage cards are graded by PSA, and many set collectors like to have uniformity in their grading companies. I think that grading with SGC might actually hurt your resale value. Just my opinion though.

BVG - if it is for your pc
PSA - for resale
SGC - also is well respected for cards from this era.
You have to decide what your intention is with the card before sending it.

I am choosing not to go with PSA for two reasons. One I do not trust the authorized PSA dealers in my area and secondly, I do not want to pay $99 for a membership to send in 1 card. SGC and BGS both do not require membership and I am very happy with the BGS service and shipping being in TX. I guess I have answered my own question. I did think about SGC, but BVG protects the card better and it is more for pc than resale. I do believe it can be better preserved for crossover to PSA later down the line for the next owner.
