Vintage sets recommendations

My main PC is HOFer rookies but I’ve been recently toying with the idea of starting a vintage set. Since my main PC takes up most of my funds, I would like to choose a set with no high-end rookies. Also I will stick to PSA graded cards, so PSA 5/6 to keep costs down.

What are some nice sets to chase?

No big rookies in that set.But a lot of big stars.Richards last card.And to have a common in high grade to fetch as much money as he does than this set is a bit hard to complete.The #61 card is very hard to find in a high grade.Good luck with your search.If you decide on a set PLMK as I have a bunch of PSA cards that I would like to get rid of since I prefer to have my stuff graded by KSA.

I have decided on the 1952-53 parkhurst set. I like the appeal of the smaller cards, the checklist is reasonably short too at 105. While it does have 3 key rookies, Moore, Armstrong and Horton, it's not a huge deal since I was planning on getting those for my HOFer collection.

Since this will be a side collection, I will only be getting low graded graded examples (PSA 4 or 5) on the majority of them unless a 6 or 7 is super cheap. Basically the eye appeal is what will matter the most. So if anyone has any cheap graded commons, let me know!

Great choice. I also like the smaller cards and how the images resemble something in between drawings and photos. This set captures a transitional period in cards between black and white photos and true color photos.

Thanks c55! Indeed it will be a nice change of pace from just looking at HOFer rookies like I've been doing. This will also be more of a 'buying the card and not the grade' which my wife/wallet will appreciate.
