Guys,

I don't know if you guys can help out but I felt that lately I want to actually own some vintage cards. I am not looking for any big name card but just common cards from any hockey set that is from 1965 or earlier.

The condition has to be really good tho.. I don't want bent corners.. I figure if I am going to own one of these i may have a good condition one.

Can anyone help me out or tell me anything about vintage pricing for commons?

The only thing i can tell you about vintage is that condition dictates price.

If you refer to a Beckett, there is a page just before the start of the pricing that talks about conditions/grades. VG, EM-MT, NRMT, MT, etc....

There is also a scale for what to expect based on year and conditin of card.

For example, (I'm doing this from memory, so it's not likely exact), cards from 1951 to 1966, the listed BV in the price guide is based on cards NRMT, therefore cards that are NRMT-MT can command more than BV.

Like I said, it's best to look it up.

I know at our store, we target 60% of BV on vintage based on condition. A MINT card, we want BV. We also give discounts for multiple purchases (lots), etc...

Your best bet is to find a card you want and see what price you can get it for.

ah.. thanks for the advice.. I had no clue how much was involved...

Pm sent

I think that the vintage stuff is more complicated but may give me more reason to start collecting this instead of the newer stuff. Who knows.. i may change over..

Hahaha! Too much product in the newer stuff. customers always want the latest and greatest and its easy to fall behind haah
