Folks,

I got this gamer last night and I want to hang it in my man cave but there's one problem... The thing stinks to high hell. Because of the sharpie signature I'm nervous to wash it but at the same time the smell would probably peel the paint off the walls.

I've read a few suggestions online and most say to avoid washing it and others say you can get away with a gentle wash cycle. Any tips?

Just hang it outside for a couple of days, or throw it in the dryer with a couple dryer sheets. It was only worn for one game, so the smell won't stick around for too long.

I do a combination of this for something that smells

Hang it outside with a bunch of dryer sheets stuffed inside the sleeves and folded over the collar... that will help

Dry cleaner.

Also, hang it in the bathc room with the hot water running. Make sure the door is closed.

Then hang it outside for an hour or so.

We used to do this in the summer time with our uniforms. We'd have three days of parades and you would sweat something awful. Then the sweat marks would show.

I told all my soldiers to do this and it never failed.

Thanks for all the tips guys. What I tried was hand washing in a little bit of laundry soap, spraying with Febreeze then hanging it out to dry. It worked well and the area around the jersey is habitable again.

I figured the smell would die down over time, my other concern was just getting the sweat out of it. I intend to wear it back to Pink at the Rink next year and I didn't want year-old sweat all over it. Easy solution would be to toss it in the wash but with the signature I didn't want to risk it.

Ozonate the hell out of it. Any high end used equipment retailer will have the machine. 100% fade proof... smudge proof. etc.

All of my game used equipment gets this treatment.

Once I tried to wash his jersey shirt in cold water. Signatures on it were signed with two different pens. One remained and second one and disappeared.
