As we all remember, the 2005-06 SPA release was botched. Boxes were yielding little more than Steve Goertzen rookies and Jeff Hoggan Sign of the Times. People stopped buying. There were fears Wave 2 would never arrive and stuff that had failed to hit the market would simply be destroyed. And people starting paying waaaaaaay too much for Maxim Lapierre RCs.
Well, I panicked a little too. I dropped $37.77 on an Andrew Alberts FW Patch that was barely two colors. Yes, by Beckett's standards, I was close to the Lo price. But by reasonable standards, it was a panic purchase.
My have things changed.
Now with precious few Alberts cards left to hunt down and nothing being issued, I'm going back and upgrading existing cards. Last week, two 3 color patches hit the Bay. I decided I'd stab at one with $20 and if I failed, I'd go for the 2nd one.
Well, the first one was sitting at $20.50 (including shipping) with little time left and I made my stab at the 2nd card. But I decided to just make sure the other one wasn't sitting on the edge. So I went to $21. Sold to me! Needless to say, you know I ended up with the 2nd one too...
Yep. Got both of these for less money combined than I spent on the inferior original. Not too shabby.
