what do you guys think about the ud deal after april 1st

Since I've bought a grand total of something in the neighborhood of 5 packs in the last 3 years...I will wait and see what this change brings. If it means my existing cards gain some value, great. If not, I can continue to not buy new wax offerings...

mike and vinny great comments and i am on the same page as you guys

ferris its not going to stablize wax sales
hobby dealers will still get wax,but what everyone is missing is ud will restrict how much everyone is getting, everyone thinks we will head on down to see paul at queensway, well 150 people go down there to buy sp authentic,he gets only 3 cases, how does he benefit, but walmart who gets no sp authentic and now gets 8 cases per store and are told to sell at 179.99 where as before you could get it from paul for 125-140 range i don't see the benefit, the lions share is going to walmart, zellers, target not your local hobby shops, they will be scaled down to where they are getting so little they will want more for it as well,so you won't have to find a hobby store you just pay more at walmart.goodbuy case ripping, goodbye set building, goodbye to romance yeh

Mikeysleafs, looks to me like you're just making stuff up to sound off against UD. It's not justified here. Where do you get this stuff on Walmart? Walmart has tried selling cards in the past and has failed, in Canada anyways. This is why they don't deal in boxes like they used to. Read the release from UD as posted by Funkmobile. It states that UD is doing this to strengthen the brick and mortar shops. Those are hobby shops. It's being done to help support them.

As for restricting how much product goes to who, that's no different than it is right now. Hobby shops were getting cut back on all orders during the Crosby/Ovechkin rookie year. Allocation occurs through the entire channel, not just UD.

If Upper Deck would just control the amount of product they put out there into the public, none of this would have had to be done anyways! Their garbage product that they have been turning out has been the direct impact on the lower prices of product. This will not help the consumer in any way. What everyone should now do is just add 60 days to the release date and then make that the official release date because thats when they can sell it to and for whatever they want to. If nobody bought any of the product within the first 60 days of the release this would send a definite message to Upper Deck saying that we will not stand for it. Also, if distributors are stuck with a crapload of product still when the 60 days is up, can you imagine how quickly they will want to get rid of that stuff once the 60 days hits? What you will see is even BIGGER discounts because everyone will want to get rid of it at once. Anyways, if I can't buy the product for a better price than in the hobby store then I simply won't buy it and it will mean my wax ripping days are done... it might be a good thing for me... I won't be tempted to open crap up any more!!

Thats my 2 cents...
