I've been out of the hobby since 05-06. Haven't had the time or $ with a wedding and a baby. Just now starting to get back into collecting again. So fill me in on what has changed in the past 5 years.

Panini and UD both have licenses, and are limited to 11 or 12 products a year. Last year was the last year of the UD exclusive release. So far here is what Panini and UD have released:

Besides the things afholmes87 mentions, other hobby changes you may want to be aware of......
1) Lots of "PATCH" faking. People pulling plain patches out of cards and replacing with cool looking patches to try and get people to pay more on eBay and shows. So beware of these ripoff artists. :foottap:
2) Dr. Price and ITG still locked out by the NHL and NHLPA for an NHL card license. He keeps plugging away and still makes some amazing hockey products! :beer:
3) Oh, the NHL is back to playing hockey again since the lockout year when you left.
They are in the midst of the first round of playoffs right now, and there are some great series already with multiple Game 7's, including two more tonight!!!!
