No,it's not just you.Photobucket sent me a message the other
day saying I can't upload third party images without a $400 upgrade
for services in their Plus500 membership.Guess I won't be posting
pics anymore cuz I ain't paying for that crap.

Just waiting for my sig to break then I'll probably start switching to something else. Still seems to be working on my end at least.

Photobucket did an excellent job destroying something that started out great. Some (a lot actually) of these online services just don't know how to leave well enough alone and end up bloating their websites to the point of uselessness.

I made the move to flickr recently and as mentioned in another thread I love it overall. Ease of use is excellent, the only slight issue is it is slightly more work to link your photos than PB was. It's still a copy and paste but comes with a whole whack of default tags with the photo which can be trimmed (for whatever reason I hate them) from the link but does take a bit longer.

You can still download all your photos from photobucket to your computer and re-upload to flickr as well.

Flikr is great! Very fast upload, user friendly. An absolute breeze yo use. I had around 500 cards added and orgsnized in under 2 hours.
One of my fav apps/websites

Agreed with this. Also browsing images on flickr is 100x better than photobucket. Full large images, super easy to organize into albums, and there isn't an ad a minute crashing your computer and lagging the entire website.

Word. I've been on the Flickr train for a while now.

Photobucket just made a lot of people mad today. Not good.

Plus it royally messed up my running PC thread. Need to re-do that then to fix it.

Switching to Flickr as I type..

Well there goes my account and almost ten years worth of mail posts along with it. This is such BS.

Also just realized my laptop is out of commission so I'd have to make a conversion over mobile, probably not going to happen.

This is discouraging.

Edit: Tried Flickr but I don't find it mobile friendly enough so I went with Imgur. So far so good, got my sig working again at least.

This is so frustrating, I've got a dozen pages of subscribed threads that I enjoyed revisiting, now the images are gone. Don't understand how PB expect to get a loyal customer base by forcing people to subscribe to the costliest plan.

Is this the part when we all band together and make t-shirts saying "I survived the PB 3rd Party Hosting crash of 2017" ?

But seriously though, it's so annoying and I can't see why PB would use a shady tactic like this as their game plan.

I remember using some Social/Communications web analytic website a while back (I forget the name of the site) and they offered a lot of their services for free.... until they shut everything down overnight and commanded huge $$$$ to get to use those services on a yearly plan.

Since their main customer base were 'casual' users, they began to walk.

Once the site saw the public backlash, they quickly reversed the plans back to the original free stuff and rolled out a fair plan later down the line while still offering free services too. I suspect PB will do the same if they care about their customer loyalty at all.

PB lost me as a customer when they started flooding their sites with pop-ups and advertising.

May be a stupid question of the day, why can't this site be smart phone friendly. Take a picture and post? I left the hobby 5 years ago and tried using my photo bucket and laughed. That place is so lame and I would never use it again. If there was a way to make it work I would be more active on this site and donate. Cheers

It would be great if they had this as I decent option, but sadly their mobile app is not great. I remember I used for a while back. My experiences were bad unfortunately.

I mean, there needs to be some advertising to pay the bills on a free service that large but they pushed too hard and made their site literally unusable for many. Then they went to the other extreme and forced these insane $400USD ransoms on members overnight in another attempt to squeeze money. Photobucket must be in bad shape financially to be monetizing this aggressively. Now they're going to lose a ton of members AND ad revenue since far less people will be browsing their site. The backlash is warranted but certainly they couldn't have expected anybody to actually go for this?
