I remember that this set used to be a good set, and good value for the money. After opening 8 boxes, and seeing some other breaks online, I kinda think it is missing something. Last year, I did get a Sakic/Roy 1 of 1 patch, which obviously made it a great year. I think overall the hits were better. I got a Crosby auto, and overall I was please with my boxes. This year, the autofacts online apart from a number of Orrs, and one Lemieux, don't seem to have the stars that yesteryear had in there. Am I wrong? I hope so, cause I have 2 1/2 cases to sell of it now. What do you guys think?

The auto's seem very weak as far as value players go, best I've seen pulled on here is the one Crosby and then a Thornton after that common players with little chance of box saving value

its missing fresh new ideas. They keep rehashing the same old ideas, and its starting to get old. outside of the Rookie Redemptions, I dont see anythign i woudl want in it.

For all intents and purposes - this year - the one thing I am fairly certain that Artifacts is going to be missing is me. I have faithfully awaited the arrival of Artifacts in the past but this year - I will be cracking none (just for the record - I may waffle on this as I am an addiact after all).

I only somewhat blame the Artifacts product however - with Black coming so recently and the lack of anything that really blows my doors off for a rookie crop as well as no real change in design, I will be doing my best to stay away from this product.

We'll see how long I can hold off before the packs start flying...

I'll second this statement.

I opened lots from last year and pulled a dual patch at an average of one every 2 boxes, some cases were even one every box. And the auto checklist this year is LAME. It sucks paying $90 CDN a box and pulling a bunch of dollar cards.

Agreed.....too many parallels in this product and the same old themes......cmon UD.....lets make some changes to this product for next year.

Missing..decent looking frozen artifacts jerseys.. Yuck!! Almost a joke.. Last years was so much nicer..The Tundra tandems are okay looking..but again, I prefer last years..

The Autos are definitely sharp..I love this years design..probably my favorite card of the set..the treasured swatches/ patch combos are pretty nice as well..These 2 make it worth it, in hopes of pulling something nice..especially a shot at the 1/1 Tags..

Was wondering are their any 1/1 Autos this year?

Finally I agree with Grim, they could have put a lot more effort into this years design..Last years were fresh and nice looking..sweet designs all around..

But seriously I can't get over those frozen artifacts jerseys..what were they thinking? Someone must have been watching too many cartoons.. lol Looks like the road runner should be popping out of that fake ice..haha

Ferris, if you're paying $90CDN a box, I wouldn't complain too much. That's my cost.

Just a number pulled out of my arse, that's what last year's came out at. I haven't been in a shop since this year's product came out.

The higher the retail price the lower the value I'm afraid.

Artifacts has turned into what every other Upper Deck product has become... the same player selection repeated over and over again. Watered down auto selection, jerseys of players that we see 100's of each year. There is no originality, even in the hits.

Oh that's easy. Not enough parallels.

**uncontrolled laughter**

Maybe they should merge Black Diamond and Artifacts? We could have Die-Cut Quad Diamond Metallic Blue parallel versions of patch cards featuring Steve Shutt and Bobby Nystrom in solid white jerseys they wore at a game to raise money for Upper Deck parallel research.

Bingo.

Really, even though they changed the card design - it's the same players in the same combinations on the same damn parallels. There's nothing new to it.

I'm sorry, did you actually just say NOT enough parallels?

If it's got fewer parallels IMO that makes it a better product overall.

Sarcasm. I has it. :)

It's a very strange notion they have there that you can have 136 versions of a card yet we're to believe that one of them is a 1-of-1.

I agree with the sentiments of others that it's just the same players year in and year out. I am astonished beyond words, however, to not see Michael Ryder as a Habs player and Kovalev in the set. Last year was just ridiculous: Saku, Ryder, Huet, and Latendresse in just about every set.
