what is the one card you regret selling?

I’ve sold way too many non-pc cards for less than they sold for later.

For me it was 2 Patrick Roy cards. Back in 2006ish I was between jobs and needed the money to pay bills. I sold these 2 cards:

I have since been able to reacquire the Ultimate Auto Patch 33/50 by pure luck. I have not been able to track down the Ultimate Mega Patch 24/35.

I keep holding out hope.

Worse is selling the haul I got back for this card. $5k cash was put to good use, but the Jordan/LeBron Exquisite Dual Patch Auto, Crosby Cup Rookie Limited Logos Patch Auto, Gretzky Cup All Star Patch Auto would all have me mortgage free if I had kept them and sold today (or better, during the pandemic).

Ouch....that Roy would keep me up at night.

I never had the card in hand but it was a redemption from 04-05 UD Legendary Classics triple auto of Roy, Esposito and Worsley...I think it was out of 25 and would have been hard signed. Sold it to fund me buying ice hockey gear when I was in middle school lol

My "first p.c." of 2002-03 Parkhurst Retro, circa 2005. I had the full HSHSH redemption set matching serial #08/20 and about 150+ other "hits". I started again in about 2013 and since then have over 920+ cards from Retro, but it stings to know where alot of those cards are sitting today.

As everyone else we all have a lot of regrets. But at the time I was doing quite well with the price received as compared to what I paid for it.
But when the pandemic hit and people went nuts with spending. Then I realized if I would have only held on for another year I would have done
so much better. I am talking about my Sidney Crosby The Cup rookie #xx/99.But it is water under the bridge. Move on and try not to repeat.

As Winston has said - water under the bridge.

Spring 2006 - Toronto Expo - Sidney Crosby YG ungraded and one PSA 10 - couldn't convince anyone to buy the pair for $300.

3 MacKinnon Cup Rookies @ $3,000 each and the National Treasure Auto NHL Patch for $11,000 (all just before my daughters wedding and was very happy that it was paid off).

McDavid ungraded Future Watch - $500 for the first one and $900 for the second (2016).

McDavid Cup 3 color Rookie - $15,000 (2016)
McDavid Young Guns - pre COVID $400
Ovechkin Young Guns - pre COVID - $50 - $100 each - think I sold 6 of them in the year.

But - water under the bridge - was happy at the time and no regrets.

I sold most of my collection to help offset costs related to IVF & IUI treatments.

While I don't regret selling any of these items, I would do it again, I was heartbroken to see it go, especially at pre-pandemic prices.

The 2 most missed cards are my Pack-Pulled Crosby Young Gun and Patrice Bergeron SP Authentic Rookie Rewind Autograph Patch.

One card I regret getting rid of was one I only had in-hand for about a day.

Way back in 2003-04, Vincent Lecavalier was coming off a stellar season, and ITG Ultimate had just been released. As luck would have it, a fellow forum-mate pulled the Lecavalier auto patch 4/10, and I wanted it. However, the only card he wanted was one I didn't have, but he knew someone who did. I contacted that person, and the only card HE wanted was a card someone ELSE had, but that individual refused to do any business with him. So, I contacted THAT person, and worked out a deal for that card. I then was able to complete the deal with the promise of that card getting into my hands, then made the trade for the Lecavalier with the original member.

The second card was for a 2003-04 ITG Used International Experience Auto Jersey Alexei Yashin /10. I got this card for a Brodeur auto and a few other pieces.

The card that was then traded to get the Lecavalier? A 2003-04 UD Premier Auto Patch Eric Staal.

Ooof.

Sold the McDavid YG Exclusives immediately after pulling for $2500
sold the Matthews YG Exclusives right after pulling it for $1500
both now, are MUCH higher.

McDavid Fleer Showcase RPA 4-color. Got $375 USD for it in 2016, paid for more cards but post Covid numbers put it to shame since 3-colors are going for over $1k easy…but with inflation, it is about the same value. Lol :foottap:

Thanks to Debby and I am on a roll.
Not ONE but a number of cards $OLD / TRADE since I started selling / trading @ Expo, NO regrets.
It has life much easier financially and to ENJOY life.
SO here is my SIX of over 40 cards that I once owned.

Back in the day I was picking up Ovechkin YGs as a hoarding PC. I got up to 20 of them. I was buying them for $50-60 a piece.

I then had someone offer me $2,000 for the lot of 20. I can’t remember the year but that was the going rate at the time. It was hard to turn down $2,000 at the time.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but I am sure that a few would have graded a PSA 10.

Oh well I was happy at the time.

Trade and sell. I got offered a Phaneuf CUP RPA for it back in the day and wound up unloading it at a show for a lot less. GG me!
