So I think there are (were) quite a few people on here eagerly awaiting the Lindros RC buyback auto from Score. Well this morning I was doing my daily search and found this:

Why would Panini use that card? When I saw this it was so deflating. Honestly this card went from the top of my most wanted list to a card that I might get around to picking up one day.

I know that Panini never actually said what card it was going to be, it just made sense in everyone's head that it would be the # 440.

I love to hear the reasoning behind using the card they did over the iconic 440. Maybe it was the Canadian/American issue? But it certainly couldn't have been the ability to find 8 copies. I mean I live less than 20 minutes from Panini's corporate office. I could have made a personal delivery myself.

They took a great idea and dropped the ball on the whole thing if you ask me. They should of made the auto rc buybacks of all the 1st round pick rookies from 90 score, as well as not making them so limited. /100 minimum would of been better

Maybe they did more than one? They could've used all 5 from the factory set bonus and the RC.

That's why I posted this. Hopefully Al can shed some light on the choice or the existence of other (more desirable) copies.

For a 99 cent per pack product, Collectors should be impressed there are autographs in there at all.

Personally, I think they did a great job with it - I have to think there are multiple Lindros cards available as the sell sheet noted signed rc's of Eric Lindros and Martin Brodeur. Panini has been a little slow in providing specific info, but look at the discussion it's generated.

Just as an aside, the Primeau that I saw on Sunday (Dan in London) was his RC card...............

I agree....not sure why they wouldn't have used the RC for Lindros as well....

I agree, It's was not at all what I was expecting. There is only 1 true Lindros RC, and it should have been used.

Doesn't matter what year it is, where i am or what sets are out. That is THE Lindros card.

I saw the auction too and it left me scratching my head (among other places). I don't even think I would bother having him sign THAT card in particular. He had so many other cool cards from Score that year....but the BIG one would be #440.

1 of 8 is B2. Not really a card meant to be signed in my opinion.

I can't for the life of me figure out what Panini was thinking with this one.
