I have a whack of old base cards kicking around gathering dust, at least two giant boxes of maybe 5000 cards (might be more). They range anywhere from 1990-91 Pro Set, Score, UD up to 2011-12. Most of the stuff is late 90's early 2000's. What do you guys do when you have so much base? I could use the space but I don't want to just throw them away.

PS - No Stanley Cup marked Pro Set cards. I found lots of other errors though.

Join the new HI trend! Fill team bags with >20 cards and hand them out as part of Halloween treats.

Donate them to a charity or hospital.. I use them for packing fodder, charcoal bbq starter, and mostly just pack up in to team bags and hand them off to kids.

Yup, donated something like 40000 cards to a giant yard sale to raise money for something I forget the last time I moved in '05. Can't say as I miss them too much.

With Pro Set, sometimes the corrected card is worth more than the error. For example, there are almost certainly far fewer correctly spelled Bourques (both Ray and Phil) than there are error versions...not that there's much demand for either. :)

You could also go on a treasure hunt through the 1990-91 Score to find its 9 variations and 6 promo cards that have managed to work their way into 5000 count boxes over the years.

There is always someone that will take base cards. We use to donate our base from our breaks to local charities but none of them will take them anymore. They had too many piled up. Now we sell them in 3200 CT boxes for $30 to some guys that do grab bags and we donate the money to a local children's hospital.

Gave away a bunch to the kids. The look on there faces make it all worth while

This is where HI needs a set builder section.

There are a handful of guys that are old school and like to build sets. Me being one of them. But it's been all about GU/auto/#'d cards for some time now.

List the sets out and see if anyone is interested. There have been a couple of threads. I have a link to my partial base wants. Usually if I make a trade, I'll ask people to have a look at it.

For me, it's actually relaxing b/c it brings me back to my childhood where I would get lost in my cards, trying to trade for cards that would finish my set, team by team, player by player.

I have been fortunate enough to have a couple of sources where guys give me base so I get my "fix". I do get OCD about finishing sets though. If I have 3/4 of a set in doubles, I want to finish it.

Shipping is a killer.

Check out my thread about a similar subject. People send me their wantlists to finish sets, and I go through and pull out the ones I have and get a trade done. Pretty nice way of cleaning out some of my unneeded clutter, too.

I'm looking to polish off a bunch of Jets 1.0 team sets. I can send off my list
