Hey guys, I have a limited time opportunity...heres the question

What would you buy:

Patrick Roy RC PSA 10
Patrick Roy RC BGS 10 (Even though it may be sheet cut)

...and why?

I chose the BGS 10 because I believe the quality of the card in the BGS holder will be superior to the PSA one, regardless of whether it was sheet cut or not. Also, there are likely fewer BGS 10 compared to PSA 10.

I like BGS better. When I bought my Lemieux rookie, not a 10, I only looked at BGS. Part of the reason is cause I like the look WAY better.

if given the choice between identical cards in psa vs bgs holders I'll go bgs simply because they will fit in my binders :D

Or do they make psa pages now?

Pack pulled is the way to go with these cards - every copy is cut a tiny bit differently and therefore unique.

PSA 10 = BGS 9.5, so if I had an opportunity to buy a BGS 10, I'd take that one every single time. I assume a BGS 10 will probably cost you 5-10x the cost of a PSA 10 though.

That being said, I think grading is a scam, so I wouldn't actually buy either.

BGS all the way, a BGS 10 is a lot harder to get than a PSA 10 in terms of actual grading. If you look up most cards you'll see way more PSA 10's than BGS 10's.

Its funny that PSA is winning in OP's poll at the moment 27-22 yet every post in the thread supports BGS, guess the PSA voters are just blindly supporting PSA but can't give any reason as to why?

Something about retro cards that look better in PSA holders than BVG.

Would 1986 OPC come in a BGS or BVG holder?

Sheet cut cards are bogus to me. I have a couple but mostly for novelty, would never pay a crazy premium.
PSA all the way.

Well guys, I appreciate everyones comments. I have decided to go with the PSA 10. Reason being is they are completely original. As much as I am a BGS fan, in talking with collectors and learning the process of the sheet cuts, I will not spend that kind of bank on something that has been synthetically treated, even though the card is authentic. So again, thanks to all the folks that have given me advise on this issue. Much appreciated!!

I think Martinsportscards on eBay is destroying the value of BGS 10's all by himself. They USE to be rare, virtually impossible to get. This guy pumps out high grade cards like there's no tomorrow. Having said that, I don't blame him....I blame the grading company. They will obviously grade anything, and nothing brings more attention than a little label that says "pristine". Don't forget, population reports won't go down...there will always be more that get that grade in the future, thus driving the price down. I'm sure there's lots of uncut sheets still out there. Just my opinion :)
