I purchased 10 cards from one seller all at the same time auction style. Shipping was $7.50 because each additional card was $0.50 which I thought was high but waited to see how they were packaged before I asked why so high.

I got them the other day and 7 cards were crammed into one thick loader. They are Black Diamond cards so the bottom black is a little chippy but nothing horrible. The other 3 cards were fine but what made me upset was that he sent them in a reused mailer with lined white paper for my address and cost only $2.02 to send.

Now if he had charged $4 or so he would have covered himself enough for new loaders for each card and a new mailer and still had profit in there.

I am thinking of leaving this seller neutral for all the reasons above...what do you guys think? He only has 143 feedback so maybe this would get him to properly package and charge in the future.

Did you try contacting the seller first, to see about a refund on shipping. Explain the price you paid vs how you received.

Nathan,I normally do not weigh in on these things. But this is something that bothers me to no end with eBay buyers. If the person was up front with what he charges. And you knew that going in.Your cards arrived in good condition or as described. Why would you want to leave anything but positive feedback. Now if he had charged you $2.00 for S&H and it cost him $5.00 would you reimburse him $3.00.Not likely.Everyone would say it is the sellers job to know what postage cost.It is a buyers market on eBay and has been for a couple years now.And we all know when that began. When 100% of the power was put in the hands of the buyer.

For myself I really do not care what someone charges for postage. If I see they want $6.00 than I may not bid.But if I do and my card arrives in a plain white envelope with a $.85 stamp on it.I really do not care.Provided my card arrives in the condition that was described. There are way too may buyers that feel the seller owes them.I recently received a neutral and I ask the person why.He said I charged too much for S&H.I charge $4.00 to the USA.Well it cost me $3.79.So yes technically I did.But when I ask him if he thought $4.00 was too much for S&H than why bid.His reply was that he expects free shipping and that he does not read descriptions. So how do I as a seller defend against people that feel it is their right to destroy the reputation of a seller because their expectations are unrealistic. And in my case it was for a $1.26 sale.

But of course this is only me and I know that I am likely in the minority.Enjoy the Holidays,Winston.

I agree with Winston on this one. At worst, I would say hit his shipping charges a bit on the DSR's but you got the cards in the condition expected and because of that I think it deserves a positive feedback.

I too am on board with Winston. I just recently got two cheapie cards mailed in white envelopes one in a Christmas card envelope. And you would think at Christmas was the worst time to send them this way. They arrived in perfect condition, so I left positive feedback. One guy charged $2, the other $3.50, kind of pricey for Whiteys but I they arrived in the proper condition.
Merry Christmas and make the RIGHT decision, LOL!!!

Covered over and over.

If an auction lists the charges - why do buyers keep complaining???
Does not matter if it were shipped in a bulk plastic snap-tite, the seller is offering the card and you decided to buy them according to his auction stipulations. As long as the cards are delivered in the sold as condition - than a buyer has no right to complain even if they were wrapped in fish paper and taped shut.

Before someone brings up excess shipping charges - charging $.50 or even $1.00 per extra item does not qualify for Ebay relief as the seller has not violated Ebay rules. Ebay excessive shipping charges were developed for only one reason - to protect Ebay from losing Final Value Fees from sellers ending auctions for $1.00 and charging $50 S & H.

If a buyer is against a seller charging and extra $.50 or $.75 or even $1.00 for additional auctions won - THEN DO NOT BID ON THEM. Go buy from another seller one item at a time - or find a seller that does not charge. That simple - quit *****ing AFTER the fact - it is a buyer vs seller argument. And the buyer has a choice not to purchase from any seller they so choose.

And what the HECK is the problem with re-using bubble mailers as long as they are in good shape - FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Next buyers will want never used plastic sleeves and toploaders or one-touch magnetic's.

Nathan - it is nothing personal, really. It is just that you got your cards and in a timely manner and you saw the charges before you bid. What aspect of the seller's auction did he not live up to???

PS: I did not vote in the poll because I believe that the seller deserves a positive with no issues posted in the feedback!

If your gonna bill me .50 per extra card, give me some extra protection per card.Stuffing them into 1 top loader isint worthy of an extra charge.

I combine shipping for free if weight dosent affect shipping cost, less buyers to worry about, less mailers to prepare. If im listing 100 items i sure hope i dont have to prepare 100 mailers.

If I may: I think the complaint arises from an expectation that an incremental charge reflects incremental value delivered...not simply an extra fee for no reason. In this instance, had each card arrived in its own toploader and sleeve I suspect Nathan would have no beef. He might have paid a bit more, but at least the appearance of value delivery is maintained.

Irrespective of declaration, the expectation is always there: If you're going to charge more for a service, there should be more service delivered.

I would leave him positive feedback since the cards arrived in the right condition. But if he refuses to refund some of the shipping charge, I would hit his DSR ratings and maybe leave a comment in the feedback.

Not much more you can do IMO.

Steve - the problem with your statement is that in this case there are multiple cards. While I do not stuff extra cards in the toploader - I do at times use a snap-tite case from 5 or more cards. And I have been called out by members of these boards as an Ebay seller for charging $.50 extra per card as stated in my auctions.

In respect to your statement - the seller is offering extra service (even if poor service!) - he is offering the buyer a reduced shipping price for winning more than one auction. Like it or not - agree or disagree -on your view - that is extra service. The buyer can choose to buy one card at a time.

situations like this are why ebay now charges a FVF on shipping cost. this is a gouge, no questions asked. if he won't refund some of the cost, hit him with a neutral and ding him on the DSRs.

sorry, but this is one of my pet peeves. hell, i think that a buyer left me a 1 or 2 on my shipping cost DSR because i charged $8 for registered shipping internationally... when the postage showed a value of $13. pisses me off...

I agree with most people points/opinions but Q hit it on the head. I did state in the OP that he crammed most of the cards into one large loader and that caused some slight damage. I charge $0.25 per additional card on ebay and mail in new mailers I buy in bulk for about $0.15 a piece. I also use new loaders and sleeves about 95% of the time so why shouldn't I expect the same for a reasonable price??

No way would I cram 7 cards into one loader, charge someone $7.50 and expect to make a huge profit on shipping without getting some flack or low DSR's.

This kind of action bugs me as well, but hey if the cards arrived then there is no reason to leave a negitive.
I will hit sellers like this on their DSR's.

AND... this is my biggest pet peave with Ebay.
Why is there not a star system for how the stuff was package? For a system that is focused on stuff being shipped all over the world, Why is there not a way to give credit for good packaging or flame the mofos for crappy packaging?
