What would you do eBay advice wanted

I just sold a Nathan MacKinnon UD Ice rc on eBay for the buy it now price I had it listed for $1500, to a buyer from China who has no feedback and just signed up on eBay today. I am really hesitant to send it to a new member.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
 
If it sold for $1500, the $60 or so it would cost to send it tracked and insured would be money well spent. You should be fine with that covering you.
 
Yeah, keep in mind that if it proves to be CC fraud, you're SOL. And there remains the 180 day chargeback window...

This smells bad.

Yeah I've had this happen to me before but for a lot less $$. Still stung though, can't imagine losing $1500, I'd prob go to china looking for redemption.
 
I would stay away from this one - I have recently added to my listings that feedback of 5 or less needs to contact me before bidding or i cancel their bid. Have you talked to the buyer? We talking 1500 US funds? If so, that is closer to like $1800, and like someone already said, even if you insure for the MAX, you are looking at only recovering $1000. Also (had this happen before) when you insure that high, you actually write $1000 on the customs form, making it more appealing for dishonest postal workers. Finally, can you get signature confirmation to China? I have never tried with Canada Post, but I know it is not an option to the USA when I send expedited or tracked packet, so I am guessing it is not an option to China. With ebay, tracking does not do jack - buyer can still claim non receipt. Seller is only in the clear if they have proof of receipt - which is signature.

This seems too good to be true - like when I list a guitar on kijiji and someone from Africa wants to pay me double because they want it as a gift for their son! Save yourself the headache!

I agree it did sell for $1500 us and the buyer hasn't replied to my emails. Seems to good to be true. Thanks for the insight
 
Ouch... would not have sold a card like that outside of north America. Are there really that many hockey fans in China?

I know the money is tempting, but I'd stay far away from this one. I've been scammed twice on eBay (both for abbot $90. One was a similar Chinese buyer. Ebay insurance actually covered me after the guy closed his account after scamming a couple of others. There's no guarantee you'd get a similar result.

Honestly OP... don't do it. Sell it for less here and absolutely use tracked delivery with signed acceptance.
 
If it were me...I wouldnt do er man. I only ship to north america and select countries in Europe ( because Im from there and know the culture) but other than that, forget it.
 
I recently had a buyer hit the BIN on a $200 card and paid right away. Address was China and I figure I'd take a stab at it and send it out. Sure enough 12hrs later, the buyer is emailing me asking if I sent the item out yet, and another if I got payment. So I started looking around and he has 4+ feedback, and he's left 0 feedback for anybody... which from my experience is the biggest tell of a scammer. Usually honest ebayers will leave feedback. Dishonest ones only care about the scam. Also, his ebay is registered to Canada but his shipping info is China, so I said forget it and refunded him and cancelled the transaction.

As far as shipping to China, I am not sure if the carriers guarantee tracking and/or signature there and certainly insurance would be an arm and a leg if they even offer it in the first place. I'd look around, but to me this sounds like a scam.

Also, if you decide to ship and protect yourself in any way, mark the package as shipped thru ebay but hang on a week before you actually ship and wait and see if they file a chargeback through their credit card company.

Wait it out. The likelihood is that they won't pay. File the NPB when that happens and call it a day. In future listings, you can actively exclude China from your "will ship to" locations.
 
i had to learn the hard way with no tracking on shipping. The post office lost 20 of my outgoing packages last year, some people did receive there cards. Others actually sent back cards they bought after i had refunded them all. Therefore lesson learned, never send anything worth money unless YOU HAVE A TRACKING number, even if the person receives the card they can say they never and get a refund from paypal with no tracking number. it is worth the extra bux i had to refund 1200 dollars through paypal to customers, ebay was no help at all,
