Just browsing through the BeeHive checklist and saw a few Bobby Orr cards, notably some autograph issues.

I thought he was done with card companies? Is this legit or is this still a work in progress and UD is hoping they'll get him in the fold?

Anyone got the lowdown? Diamond Club boys?

Dish please!:D

Do you have the checklist or a link to it? I thought he was done with the hobby too, and more specifically, Upper Deck...? Unless this is UDs wishful thinking approach, where redemptions will have to be replaced with something else because Orr didn't sign after all.

Yes, they signed Orr. Found out about it a few weeks ago. Not sure who you talked to Mike, but I got word from one of the big boys during a phone call. They have him lined up for Parkhurst and a few other upcoming sets. Not sure about The Cup though. I heard Bobby doesn't like to sign cards with his stuff that's been cut up. Not sure if that's why he stopped signing for ITG, but it could make sense since they put sticker autos on his memorabilia cards.

That's great news. More bang for my buck on all the cases I have pre-ordered. I guess Carlin and my "liason" are out of the loop. lol. Mike

This is good and bad in my opinion.

Obviously its great to have some new Orr stuff lined up. Never hurts to pull an Orr auto and its nice for people to add some of his stuff to the collection.

Bad in the sense that it may hinder some of his older issues because of the quantity of Orr out there now... If you noticed, most Orr autos sell extremely well especially his harder to find stuff. I think with these new issued autos may diminish some of the desire for the older ones.

I wouldn't count on these cards just yet guys. I had heard before the season that Jagr was "signed up" for the 06-07 season. He was all over the preliminary checklists with autographed stuff and woops, the deal must have fallen through since he has not had any auto'd cards so far and I doubt he will this year. To me, it's all speculation until I see one live on the 'bay. I just am at the point where I'll believe it when I see it..... Mike

I'm just telling you what he told me.

Chris, I wasn't calling you a liar or anything. I just am skeptical about any preliminary autograph checklist. I've seen names like Sakic, Jagr, Shanahan, etc... for years and when the product gets released. Arnason, Afinogenov, etc..... You get my drift... Mike

I hope it falls through and he doesn't sign for UD, don't want to see him become the next Howe, less is more!!! BOO!!

For some of us who don't have Orr auto it gives us a chance to pull an Orr. Personally for me it good news.

Tony

I'm just telling you what he told me. We went over the Parkhurst auto checklist and it's HUGE. Wait till you see it. It's all over the place. Some will make you drool, and others will have you scratching your head. I think the goal was a 200 card set with all 200 having an autograph parallel. Orr is supposed to debut in Bee Hive, and he's supposed to be on the Parkhurst checklist as well.

By what you're saying, Parkhurst will look a lot like the good old BAP SS :)
That means many autographs of less popular players for team collectors, me happy :)

But, it would be bad if they go away from the huge base set. That was a nice challenge to build! :)

Nothing's been confirmed yet, so we'll have to play wait and see. This could be another Sakic promise all over again.

True that. I remember all the years I saw Forsberg on the UD pre-sell checklists, always gave me a chuckle. Still one of only two ONLY big name players (along with Ken Dryden) not to ever ink a single thing for UD.

May never happen either, at least not until he retires from what I hear.

We'll see about Orr. I have mixed emotions about it though.

I agree with Lionel that less is more but on the other hand I would love to see Bobby O ink it up on some of the newer stuff they're doing, and, if they could swing it and get him to do it, Good Lord could you imagine a Scripted Swatches/Signature Stick type card!?!?!?!?

I think this is good news that needs to come with a qualifier...
NO REDEMPTION ORR AUTOS!!!!!
