What's up with the Leafs

The McCabe injury definitely is a major factor in their recent slide.
But many rumors are swirling around this team, especially around players like Sundin and Allison.
When your best player has to talk about the possibility of being traded, his head can't be focused into the games as much as he should be.
Someone has to take leadership of this team and put the team on his back if they want to get back into the playoff hunt.

My take on it is, they have a ton of young guys, and the older guys are not stepping up. Their D is not the quickest of foot. They have yet to learn what is and what is not, a penalty with the new rules. You can't be in the box as much as they seem to be, and win hockey games.
My other guess, and it would just be that, a guess....is that they are obviously not listening to Quin (do I need another n?) that much. I have heard he has thrown tantrums and it seems to have zero affect on these guys. Aside from that, it is a tough Eastern conference and their division is tough. With the injuries they have had to key players, and nobody stepping up in their absence...just doesn't equate to wins.

I watched a bunch of their games early in the year and even though they were winning their share of them, they were being outplayed and outshot most nights. Eddie stole a few games and kept them in a bunch early where they should have been blown out. But now with all the injuries, cough..Lindros..cough, they can't compete. At least when they play the Habs one of them is gonna get 2 pts. for a change.

7 straight losses and Leaf Nation is in an uproar wondering why Quinn still has a job, why Belfour is still the #1, why there have been no trades, etc, etc, etc, etc...
Can't say I'm complaining... heck, it's kinda fun. Injuries to alot of the team's top line players are catching up to everyone else on the team. Slower d-men like Berg and Klee look even slower due to fatigue, Belfour's weak statistics are finally showing in the W-L column, their complete lack of discipline is killing them. I mean, there are so many things wrong with this team, I imagine the streak might run as high as 9-10 losses before they get all the problems sorted out... THEN they should be starting to get guys back from injury.

Ever since McCabe went down with an injury, the Make Believes haven't been the same. It certainly hasn't helped that they've developed a losing streak aginst the Sens. Wonder what will happen if the Leafs don't makle the playoffs, which has a good chance of happening?

Lack of depth (especially on D) and Belfour being off his game are the two killers. The team's defence looks like this: :
McCabe, Kaberle, Belak, Klee, Khavanov, Kronwall, Colaiacovo, Wozniewski, Harrison, Berg.
Now for the time being, cross out McCabe, Colaiacovo and Berg. This matches up with the Penguins AHL squad of 03/04. A lot of warm bodies on the blueline, but not much else.

UFOs, CIA, Military Industrial Complex, prions, and chemicals in toothpaste that cause amnesia are just some of the factors that I attribute to the Leafs losing streak! Talent never came into the equation, just like the Leafs themselves!
