With the recent release of the 17-18 MVP Credentials inserts I'm wondering what some people's favorite insert sets are and why?

For me, the Credentials were super cool and hit close to home - I work in the box office at the rink where my hometown Kingston Frontenacs work and I have had NHL'ers, scouts, etc. come to the window and flash their ID cards which are very similar to the insert set in a way - so that's why I've been putting the set together!

So show off your favorite insert set and tell me why you think it's cool!

Thanks!

the only set I've ever built (10 cards lol)

also 96-97 Black Diamond Run for the Cup

Cool! Those Hardware Heroes are nice for sure...but what made you collect the Hot Numbers? Any particular reason or just liked the look of them?

ya the look definitely, foil, shiny and different colors..my pc player isn't even in it!
also the short checklist, even great designs tend to lose their luster for me when looking at like 30 of them

Masked Men from Between the Pipes.. Series 5 and 6 were my favorites. They just have a really nice look,I like the art style cards, and they won't break the bank. I've actively been considering doing the sets as they are fairly inexpensive and won't give me much grief with Expo coming up ( i'm a sucker for flipping through cheap low to mid end bins and boxes.)

Here are some of mine, pretty tough to pick a favorite.
I love the big numbers set.

The early Score Dream team was also one of my favorite designs.

The Pinnacle B's are definitely in my top 3.

The Hard Hats are also high on my list.

These Stanley Cup Champions might be my favorite.

Honorable mention goes to the Stubble set and face mask set, as well as 97-98 Sixth Sense Masters and Wizards..

So many sweet inserts there, Terry. I don't know where to begin. I love the Gretzky Team Pinnacle, The Roy Pro Set The Mask, Roy Dream Team, and many more. Brings back some memories.

I love holograms! I have completed over 20 different hologram sets but one of my favorites is Score's Canadian Team. It is a beautiful set but it also features fellow Newfoundlander Dwayne Norris.

I was a huge fan of this set, spent many months of allowance chasing the Bure in particular:

I also loved those cards. Thanks for showing the Bure! I had the Bure, Fedorov and Jagr once upon a time, and always loved the look and design of those cards.

Mostly autographed cards with the exception of 2 sets and let's do it by year.
I will only show a SAMPLE card(s) from each set.
Sets feature a great selection of players (rookies current stars and HHOF), on card autograph and design.
The Ultimate Collection Signatures were very tough to put together since some of the cards were only issued as replacements.

2005/06 Ultimate Collection RC AU #s 91 - 132
(Set loaded with plenty of RCs from that year and the previous lockout year)

#92 Alexnder Ovechkin #/299

#91 Sidney Crosby #/299

2007/08 Ultimate Collection Signatures
#US-BO Bobby Orr

2008/09 OPC Premier DUOS Autographs
(Some cards were never produced.)
#PP2-HO Gordie Howe / Bobby Orr #/75

2009/10 Ultimate Collection Signatures
#US-BO Bobby Orr

2010/11 Ultimate Collection Signatures
#US-BO Bobby Orr

Now 2 NON autographed sets from 2008/09 ITG and I have selected a player that was a part of both sets.

BBR (BLUE version) #10 George Hainsworth

Superlative FRANCHISE #32 (BLUE version) #32 George hainsworth

Lots of other great autograph sets from SP Authentic (Marks of Distnction, Immortal Ink) and the 2011/12 The Cup Stanley Cup Signatures #/50 that I only collected the top players.

Tough to pick just one, all the beautiful shinny cards from the 90's from Proset Stanley cup, Score check and Franchise, Zenith Z-team , Flair Hot numbers, Nifty 50 but I will go with this one pictured below.

Pinnacle B cards. If you collected when these came out you know exactly why I picked it. So tough to find and pull, everyone went crazy for these. I love the player selection and simple black and white design. Even the more basic cards sold for $40-50 IF you were lucky enough to find them while Gretzky, Roy and Lemieux could easily sell for $150. I almost have the set just need Robitaille, Stevens and Hull.

The two part Parkhurst Reprint Set from 01/02 and 02/03 Parkhurst remains one of my favourites.

You're right. Those were awesome. I still love them. I also love the Team Pinnacle cards from the following year as well.
