Wheres the 1989 & 1990 OPC Baseball Wax?

why are these two years impossible to find?

No one really carried it in Canada other than convenience stores and OPC accounts. As far as hobby outlets went, with Score arriving in 1988 and UD hitting the scene in 1989, baseball wax and factory sets were making their way in much larger numbers than in previous years.

The lack of anything significant in terms of cards also didn't help. OPC was still a 396 card set in 1989, and in 1991, more collectors were going after Topps too because of the contest, every box had a buyback card in it - the OPC set (branded Topps now) didn't. There are plenty of factory sets of the 1991 set that can be found if you look in the right place - they were easily found in department stores that year.

Also in 1991, was basically the middle of the boom - Donruss, Fleer, Score and Upper Deck wax was pretty much everywhere as well, and provided a much more attractive alternative to OPC - baseball wise

having been elbow deep in cardboard during that "junk" era, i remember Topps, Donruss, Fleer Score and UD well. That being said, i loved OPC hockey, but didnt pay the OPC baseball any mind.

Now that i am an older fellow (will be 40 this year), i am enjoying going back to my youth.

i guess my hunt for '89 & '91 OPC wax marches on. All i want are the Johnson and Chipper PSA 9 rookies lol
