A while back I found an amazing 1953-54 Parkhurst set (http://hobbyinsider.net/forum/showthread.php?p=2294217#post2294217) and now want a second set for my vintage collection.

I'm trying to decide between the 1955-56 Parkie set, or the 1954-55 Topps set..

The '55-56 Parkie is clean, has the right amount of colour, and the arena cards.

The '54-55 Topps set just pops for all the right reasons.

Which would you go for?

The 54 Topps is more iconic, but the 55 Parkhurst has the best RC (Plante). I suppose it comes down to whether you care more about the American teams from the era or the Canadian teams.

You could always do both :)

Yep, that's really what it comes down to. One additional point to consider is that with the 1954 set you get a card that is one of the most beautiful and important in all of vintage.

im doing the 54-55 parkie, and the topps version looks fantastic, i say go for that one

it's settled then. i''ll start with the '54 Topps!

side question, outside of the '52 parkie and pre war sets, what would the next "ironic" set be between 1955-1970?

i'd assume the 66-67 with Orr, but which others?

and are there any website/links that talk about the old sets, or a complete run down of each etc? i found this: https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/category/vintage-hockey-card-sets/ which has a little info.

man, vintage is definitely my new thing.

This is a good place to get an overview of vintage hockey sets: https://www.psacard.com/psasetregistry/hockey/company-sets/30

For sets from those years, these are the most noteworthy:
57 Topps - nice design, Glenn Hall RC
58 Topps - Bobby Hull RC
64 Topps - “Tall Boys”
65 Topps - clean design, Esposito RC
66 Topps - iconic TV set design, Orr RC
68 OPC - first post expansion set, Parent RC

continuing with noteworthy sets, which would you say between 1970-1989?

thanks in advance
