There are lots of potential superstar rookies last couple of years. History shows us most eventually are big busts. Think Daigle, Stefan. Saying that which of these would be the best value to ‘invest’ in next 5-10 years? Aho, Pettersson, Barzal, Pasternak, Mcdavid, Gaudreau, Eichel, Marner, Mackinnon, Rantanen, Gritty, Larkin? Or? Young guns rcs only.

Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid. Sit on a handful of those two and you'll have a solid retirement fund to head on a cruise to Aruba in a decade.

Non-Canadians don't get the love they deserve, but that is the hobby. No pun or negativity intended.

Depends what you're looking for. A solid and slow return or a home run.

Guys like Crosby and McDavid are likely to slowly increase in value over time. If you can find that player that's worth about $5 now, but becomes a superstar in a few years, that's where the real money lies.

I agree that a Matthews could get up to $1000 pretty quickly, if he wins a cup. However, there are YGs out there going for $5 or less that could go up to $100. The ROI is much higher, but obviously these players are much harder to predict.

Maybe, but I don't really think people understand how good investments work. They work the best when you invest in stuff on the cheap that goes way up in the future. With what Crosby has done, and how expensive his stuff is, do you really think you can invest in his cards now and make a lot of money in the future? It seems like most of his stuff has peaked. On Blowout forums, there was a similar post and someone was talking about investing now in Tom Brady stuff. His stuff is so expensive now and people have already made massive profits, how much money is there really to be made in the future on cards that may have already peaked? Who knows, maybe Crosby stuff goes up in the future, but I think good bets are finding the new Crosby like players that haven't won the cups yet that are cheap now, and could possibly go up 5x in the future.
