Daredevil? Really? Never could get into his stuff. Although I had issue #300 which I thought was a good read.

So this one is #100? Are they goin' backwards now, or yet again a 19th different title for the same character :p

And if you wanted to read some Daredevil start with "The Murdoch Papers". Essentially, Daredevil has been outted and people now know he is Matt Murdoch the lawyer and he faces imprisonment.... Kingpin holds the Papers that prove it.... etc.... just an unreal story line.

"The Murdoch Papers" (written by Bendis- starts around #80) is followed by "Devil in Cell Block D" in which Brubaker takes over from Bendis... here Daredevil goes to jail and shares a cell with.... the Kinpin. Meanwhile, there is another Daredevil running around Hells Kitchen. Oh and Foggy Nelson, Daredevils best friend and partner, pays a visit to Matt and on his way out is stabbed. Daredevil can hear it from his cell but can't do anything.

In jail/Rykers are guys like the Owl, Bullseye, and some crazy Marvel character makes an appearance. Just an amazing run.... easily the best title going and anyone that reads it agrees.

It's just the new volume that started around 1998 or so. It started with Kevin Smith (#1-8), then David Mack for about 15 issues, then Bendis until #80 or so, now Brubaker from Devil in Cell Block D on to now (#100 today!).

Trust me and Scott here.

Start from issue #50, you won't be sorry. I also recommend buying the first TP its good. I really enjoyed 10-20 but there are mixed feelings out there on them. Most are done buy David Mack, he has a different style but I really like it. Mack makes you figure stuff out yourself rather then throwing it all out there. I have read issues 13-15 at least 5 times and everytime I keep getting new stuff.

I was not fond of the David Mack stuff.... he's the type of guy you love or hate. Thankfully I stuck around and witnessed the magic that ensued.

Ya Daredevil #50 is awesome... thats when DD beats the crap out of Wilson Fisk and becomes the new Kinpin eh?

Chris if you check manwithoutfear.com it lists ALL the issues, trades, writers, etc..... also has summarizes for each individually issue.

Daredevil Volume 1: Guardian Devil

I suggest start at issue 50 and go to the current run. Do yourself a favor and pick up the walking dead first TP.

Try Fraction's take on Iron Fist. Proving to be an interesting read so far.

Now a question: Am I the only one who trots out the jaw-breakin' yawn whenever they get Kevin Smith to write a story arc for some book?

Try Superman "Redson". Its a DC elseworlds tale and it tells the story of if Superman landing in Russia instead of the USA. Awesome story.

I love that type of stuff, will have to look into that trade, I've always been a sucker for the "what-if" or elseworlds type storylines even if it wasn't a character that I followed, just loved the concept.

The info on DD is also tempting, if I remember correctly I actually quit collecting around the time Kevin Smith was doing the new DD as I know I did at it to my sub to read his stuff, but I think quit soon after that. I may need to change my vote, putting a comic forum in here may cost me more money (especially if my wife finds out I started buying comics - divorces are expensive!)

What If was one of my favorite Marvel titles of the 80's/90's. That and Marvel Team-Up.

I wanted to pick up DareDevil yesterday but NHL 08 was calling instead. I'm planning on hitting the shop by my office to get those TPB's though. I need something new to read. The binding on my Batman: Hush TPB is starting to come apart...haha.

Never read it, just did a wikipedia check on it... seems pretty interesting.

As for your Kevin Smith yawn, yes.... you are the only one ;) I love his stuff. I think he's fantastic. His run on Daredevil was epic too bad it was shortlived with 8 issues. Probably the best story-arc though in years. To this day (issue 100) they still make references from what happened in those 8 issues and that says a LOT for a comic book run.

I like MOST of Kevin Smiths work the problem is the 2 years between each issue. The dude is way to long between issues.

Try Fraction's take on Iron Fist. Proving to be an interesting read so far.

I picked up The Goon SATAN'S $@#%* Sodomy BABY one shot...it was very funny. It wasn't available in Canada due to the content inside. Its pretty funny and was a $30 comic when it first came out a few months ago. There is some funny scenes in it. Anyone want me to post a few pictures from the book??

BTW Chris there is a HUSH 2 trade, it is equally good and available in TP or HC.

Anyone reading "The Goon"?

I have a copy of that issue... :) The regular comic is entertaining as all get-out. There was a great crossover with Hellboy that was also pretty good - those go together like PB and J.

Smith's problems are threefold IMHO:
1) He's a LIFO - Last In First Out - worker. Hard time keeping on track.
2) He LOVES pushing the "***" button.
3) He's a little too impressed with himself these days.

Anyone reading All-Star Superman? It won an Eisner award for the best new series and everybody I've talked with raves about it.

Anyone?

Um... I hate to "hijack" this thread... but I think we just created a Comic Book Forum through this thread! LOL

Sounds like there's enough interest to move forward... I'll put it in motion. EDIT: Done - http://www.hobbyinsider.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=103 Enjoy!

For the record... I have NO idea what you guys are talking about! I had my Archies back in the day and even a Little Lulu (good lord, did I just admit that?)... but that's about it.

B.
