Who is attending the spring expo and wants to attend another UD meeting

Calling all collectors....


Once again we will have a UD meeting at the convention center on Sat ... I will determine a good time later.

Please discuss amongst the boards...who is 100% be at the show, and wants to attend. I will get Al to solicit the Beckett boards as well.

Unfortunately we will not be able to include everyone, so make sure that you have questions to ask and be a part of an interactive group.


Please ask questions on the board if you want me to address them during the show, but please note I may refrain from answering some of the questions.

I will address questions that I see on the boards, so I will come with an itinenary.

For those that may attend the meeting and want to talk furthermore about our passion for the Hobby, I will be around our booth throughout the show. If we did not include you on the list, please feel free to come by to talk to me.

Besides a Q and A session, I want this to be an opportunity for all of you to brainstorm ideas together. Here are some guidelines for you to consider:

What do you like about the Hobby, and dislikes?

What past inserts sets (auto, memorabilia or just regular card inserts) would you like to see back in our products?

What does our competitors do that we could do better (think other sports as well)?

What sets do you build sets or master set?

What other players would you like to see sign with Upper Deck?

How low can we SP the stars for set collector sets?

I welcome all ideas to help strengthen our brands....remember no idea is a bad idea.

I wish I could be there Saturday, but I'm sure some new blood will bring new ideas too :D

I won't be at the Expo just a little bite too far away for a week-end journey but can i send you a couple questions by PM ?

Olivier - it sounds like Karvin is saying if you have questions, feel free to post them and he'll see what he can answer at the show. OTherwise, maybe try passing your questions along to someone who is going.

Karvin, I'll be there Saturday if you can put up with me. :) Regardless if I end up at the meeting though, looking forward to seeing you there.

Hello Karvin,

I won't be at the spring expo, but I have to say that I would love to see back die-cut inserts, and foil inserts like the ones we saw in UD, Donruss and Pacific products in the 90's. A good example of what I mean is the Donruss Line 2 Line insert set from 1997-98.

Also, it would be nice to see autoed stuff of tough players, like we have seen from ITG.

Also, I would love to see an insert set focusing on the highlights of some keys games in the season.

A triple SOTT Gretzky Orr Roy would be nice in SPA 07-08. We never seen these three together, it would be nice to get a card autographed by the best forward, the best d-man and the best goalie ever.

And, what about the coming back of the BD Run For the Cup inserts? And, maybe some other foil inserts in BD?

I knew not getting Saturday off would bite me,

you know you guys want to move it to Friday ;)

Would people rather have meeting on Friday or Saturday or even Sunday.


PLMK ... I'm flexible either way but I want to accomodate everyone

Sunday! :D And bring the Bullies up to the meeting :p

All kidding aside I think Saturday is the best day to get a good collecting mix. Friday seems to be the hardcore guys, Sunday seems to be slow.

Besides, I would rather a small chat over a coffee with you on Sunday instead of in a crowded room :cool:

not sunday... won't be there! ;) friday or saturday is fine... course... friday night festivities may make saturday morning a lil painful... :D
 
Make it Friday and i'll be there. If Friday is for hardcore collectors thats probably the people you wanna talk too!! If you make it Friday I'll be there and will come to the meeting to discuss the hobby....

If it's friday, I'd like to go,

I kind of agree with Glenn that Saturday is a better mix, but, I think the only people you really eliminate on the Friday are the school age kids.

And I think those of us who were at the original recall a situation with some of them.


But, if it's friday, I'm game, unless its going to be fairly long.
 
First of all let me say thanks to Upper Deck for making a Spring appearance at the expo. I will be there Friday and maybe Sunday
My wish is that there would be some sort of rewards programme for those of us who crack a significant amount of wax. The ones that are in place now (discount cards and such) are only good for decoy cards. Perhaps it could be similar to ITG HSHS programme only reedeemable for product that is not in card sets. I.E. Framed and autoed pics or game used sticks. It may take a lot of points to cover the cost of offering such a programme but I am willing to bet that hard core guys would crack a little extra wax to get the points they need to get a Gretzky or Orr autoed print and it wouldn't take anything away from the sets........I ramble.....

I've been to the last two meetings so I don't think I qualify for this one, but if you want me there, I'm there. As far as doing something better, I'd like to throw out the varying sizes of decoys that Donruss did/does. It throws people for a complete loop and is a great way to deter pack searching. Even die cutting "windows" into the decoys would give some of these butt clowns fits.

Feel free to use that, although I'm sure its been brought up many times to you.

Hmmmmm...it looks like an entire page or so of this thread disappeared, because I am pretty sure that I replied to this already. Anywho, if there is still room for one more collector, I'd be happy to help any way that I can in this "meeting of the minds". :)
