My first NHL players were Harold Snepsts, Richard Brodeur, Darcy Rota and Doug Halward... Canucks used to have their training camp in Duncan and I went to it... never did get Snepsts auto and Brodeur didn't talk to anyone... but did get Rota & Halward... pretty sweet for a 10 year old kid! ;)

Two winters ago, the old timers came through Duncan and the event was VERY poorly advertised... so there was like 100 people there. Afterwards there was an event at a local pub with about 20 people there... I got to sit at the table with Bryan Trottier!! Was pretty sweet hearing of some of his stories from a Hall of Famer!

When I was a kid, the first NHL'er I met was Perry Anderson. Perry Anderson??? you say. He was the son of a guy my father played baseball with.

Played with St. Louis, New Jersey, and when Minnesota split-up and formed the Sharks he signed as a free agent. I believe he may have been their first Captain (for about 2 secs.). He only lasted about 3/4 of a season in SJ before being sent to the minors. He packed it in shortly after.

Bar was Fanny's. Mario liked the ladies ;)
Yes, he did...got in a bit of "girl trouble" after a North Stars game in Minnesota with a North Stars player friend of his. The North Stars player took all the blame and was out of the league right after that. Mario was a star and walked. Funny how that happens......

i met some former NHL players in germany. most i liked hanging out with YVON CORRIVEAU ( whalers ) and ROB COWIE ( kings ) they have been fun at a nice club in berlin/germany :->

Lanny McDonald, Chico Resch, Rob Ramage at a Save Rocky Hockey rally in Denver in 1981. Man I am getting old.

Jeff Friesen and Mike Rathje. Way back when, they did an autograph session at this place I think was called the Arena Showcase. I think it was only a mild spring day in San Jose, but they showed up in shorts. Big change from Canadian weather I guess. :D

Darryl Sittler back in 1980 I was 2 and got my picture taken with him in front of the Leaf dressing room. I still have the picture and actually almost 20 years later was able to get it signed.

Andre Boudrias. Started going to his hockey school in White Rock when I was 10. He was my favourite Canuck, and I really wanted to go. My dad actually took a week's vacation so he could drive me there (from Abbotsford) every day. The sacrifice we make for our kids! :)

Other Canucks at the school in various years were Dave Dunn, Pat Quinn (when he played!), Bobby Shmautz, Barry Wilkins, and Wayne Maki, just before he died.

In summer 1999 I had to work a few weeks in the area of Pittsburgh. And in September I've had the chance to visit the trainings camp of the Penguins where I have met players like Jagr, Straka, Kovalev and the boss Lemieux.

During the last NHL lockout I lined up at the new Best Buy in Coquitlam. Saw a sign and an ad in a flyer saying that Markus Naslund will be signing autographs later today. So...being the die hard fan I am, I waited from 4:00am till about 3:00pm or 4:00pm in line to be one of the first to get his auto. I remember being in a lineup before and not getting an autograph and was super bummed. I really wanted to meet Markus and get him to autograph a few nice items. Well I got up to Markus and he started talking to me, I was in a bit of a shock. Asking how long I've been waiting in line, how was my Christmas, etc. It was the best, because the autograph session was only around 2 - 2.5 hours. Had like a 5 minute chat with Nazzy while there were people waiting in the monster line. Speaking of which, here's what I got auto'd
