Who will John Tavares play for next?

That's not really fair. The Buffalo dumpster fire is much larger - it burned through the Great Lakes and extended into Toronto for a few years. On the opening faceoff of the Sabres' season I wholly expect Rasmus Dahlin to collide with Jack Eichel and both exit with season-ending concussions.

Ever since Daniel Briere covered the dumpster in kerosene and Chris Drury lit a cigarette, handed it to Thomas Vanek and said "here, throw this out for me.", the Sabres have been comically bad and I've loved watching it.

Well, this is a bit extreme, A+ for creativity though :devil:


This will be interesting to see how the Leafs stuff guys under the cap with JT on the roster. You have to assume Matthews is going to command around the same cap hit, and I don't think Marner will be too cheap either. Problem is they don't have much salary coming off the books next season, and that's when Marner/Matthews/Nylander would need new contracts. Also as mentioned, D isn't exactly their strong suit and I would assume Nylander falls way to get moved for a better D man for them.

Leafs die-hard Ameet voting Maple Leafs AFTER Tavares signed in Toronto. Hahahahha

This is good for the game. Unless you're a transcendent once-in-a-lifetime talent like Crosby or McDavid, having big time players in big time markets will only help grow the NHL more.

Like it or not, TO is the hockey epicenter of Canada, this is GOOD for the game.

It's also great for Sabres season ticket holders, who inevitably sell their tickets to Leafs fans for 4 times the face value each year. Now they can make even more! :devil:

But I agree with the above on growing the game, even though I hate Toronto and I hope that Dahlin lights him up first game we play them

I don't think he would be that petty (and do something for straight up "revenge"), and I think Lou has more class than that.

He's been in this business a long time. While it must have hurt to loose Tavares no doubt, players have that option to leave their teams at anytime during their careers and Lou knows that. It's just business.

Matthews would be matched for sure. For Marner, it would depend how much the offer sheet is. They could shop around to see what sort of Dman 4 first rounders could land them, before deciding to match or not.

But if Lou was to consider an offer sheet, I think it would only be for Matthews.
