Now that the protected lists have been released, who do you think your team will lose to the Kraken? I’ll go first. I think my Isles will lose Bailey. He’s a favourite of mine so am sad if it happens.

Wow…there are some great goalies that have been made avail…

I was surprised to see both Carey Price & Tuukka Rask

Agreed, Bailey is a real gem!

I suspect my Canes will lose Reimer. He fits the mold of being a positive guy in a challenging role.

I also think we'll lose Dougie Hamilton, either in the expansion draft or on free agency market. Offensively, he's a beauty!

So, the Caps are a bit puzzling.

My hope: They take Dillon. He's an average/slightly above average defenseman, but his contact is way too big.

My expectation: They take Jensen or Schultz, leaning closer to Schultz, with an outside chance of Vanecek. The forward group available from the Caps isn't stellar (except for Ovechkin, which it would be hilarious if the Kraken try to take him LOL), so I'm going to guess they take a d-man. Vanecek is also a possibility, given his ELC/low cap hit, but I think there are other, better goaltenders out there for them to take.

CJ

This is what I was leaning towards as well.

This is the only nice thing about being a Red Wings fan right now - no one they left unprotected is particularly good, nor will they negatively affect the rebuild going forward.

Everyone suspects a little college reunion between Stetcher and Hakstol.

I guess this speaks to the volume of hockey I have watched for the last several years, but I presumed Rask had retired several years ago when he took that "leave" in the middle of the playoffs. :P

Stetcher has the best contract of anyone unprotected by the Wings, too.

If I'm being hopeful, maybe Frans Nielsen or Danny Dekeyser. The most valuable part of these guys right now is keeping us at the cap floor...

If by "several years ago" you mean last year, then you wouldn't be extremely mistaken for thinking that :p
