it's a championship match, they tend to let it go a bit more. it's not bs, he had his hands up and was trying to defend still. carwin wanted to finish the fight like his others in the first round via punches...not going to happen. he ended up wasting his energy and didn't recover for the second round to escape the submission.

same thing with akiyama...got gassed and got caught in the triangle several times. he could've slipped his head out each one and i was pretty surprised he tapped instead of fighting through it.
 
I had Lesnar and I saw no problem with round one. Carwin has gotta finish him so that there is no mystery left to it. He failed to do that and Lesnar did enough to prevent the stoppage. It is too bad though because Carwin had him.
 
He was blocking the punches, trying to kick off, moving around....how else do you intelligently defend off your back? That is the only way. If he had just covered up and let Carwin wail on him then it would have been over. The ref did a great job to see that Lesnar could still go. Carwin punched himself out, you can tell his cardio is not up to snuff. He was breathing heavy even after the fight.

i'm not a lesnar nuthugger but he was alert and blocking the bombs from carwin. had he been eating them with his face and not trying to escape, then yes, call it as a TKO.

in between the rounds, they showed a shot of lesnar and a shot of carwin. who looked worse? carwin. he was punch drunk and gassed himself out trying to finish in the first round. lesnar was fresh and looked ready to go.
 
Mario did not stop the Bonnar fight when he should of.

Huge win for Brock, but remember what Brock did after losing to Mir. He changed and so will Carwin. Can not wait too see them go at it again.

Great card all around, especially Leben doing his best impression of a Zombie

This is the best way to intelligently defend yourself. It bothers me to no end that fights get stopped when fighters cover up and block shots. What are they supposed to do? Let the shots come through?

I agree with Jordan Breen from sherdog that Josh Rosenthal put in the best reffing performance of the year.

I think that all of the hate stems from the fact that people can't stand Brock. And I can't stand him either, but you have to be objective with these things. And that was, what should be, a text book reffing job.
