Why I will never live in a HOA subdivision.....

Man, what the heck is an HOA for? That's like giving jobs to people who really don't do anything...wait, is this run by the government?

I live in a townhouse and I have property managers, but they charge me $60 a month to cut grass, shovel snow and all of those fun things I have no interest in doing. I have a few rules about stuff I can't do, but they're silly at best. HOAs sound like signing up to live in a communist compound.
 
I went with a Freehold townhouse. I can put whatever sign I want on my lawn and if my neighbors complain I can tell them to kiss my entire behind.
 
Amen. But really, a HOA is nothing more than busybody overparenting. And, of course, making sure that only the RIGHT sort of people live in the area.

So by this statement I take it there isnt a HOA in your area? Ohhhh.... Gazinga :D :owned: :D But seriously, rules are rules and I like this guys attitude. Get around those pesky rules any way you can. lol.
 
**** the rules. Some rules are common sense and for the good of all. "No stealing" is a good one. "No killing" is another. I don't have a problem with rules like that.

"No signs because you stand out from our nice, neat uniformly bland neighborhood"? My house will become a monument of signs, just to defecate on your rules.
 
My in-laws have a house in Orlando and they think the HOA is worse than big brother. They are such a BS organization and when crap goes wrong, they do nothing to get involved.
 
We have an HOA here and never had a problem with them or anyone else. A lot of our neighbours hang USC/UCLA/Lakers/Dodgers flags all the time and no one's ever said a thing.

THat said, it all depends on the people living in your neighbourhood. The HOA won't do a thing unless you blatantly break one of their rules. It's the stingy, loser neighbours with no lives in the neighbourhood that make it a pain for others.

That's true. If there is a bad apple in the bunch then that's usually the problem. I like how this guy put up a flag (within the rules) which probably bugs that bad apple more than the lawn sign (not within the rules). :)
 
I just canvassed my neighbourhood and I'm safe, there's no illegal or fake Canadians living here, they've all got official licensed tags.

I don't understand people that move in to a place where there's a HOA or strata and then ***** about the rules, who held the gun to their head and made them move there?

I do think it's clever what he did though with the sign.
