Why is the NBA such idiots?! (playoff seeding)

So...the NBA decides to redo the playoff seeding this year.....but only for the first round. Morons. If Golden State happens to beat Dallas, instead of the Suns benefiting from the second best Western record and getting the lowest seeded team in Golden State the next round, they get the #3 seed in the Spurs and the winner of Houston/Utah gets the luxury of playing the #8 seed. And instead of a potential Conference Finals of Spurs/Suns if they both won in the 2nd round, we'll get the winner of the Suns/Spurs vs the winner of the GS and Utah/Houston series.

Why can't the NBA wake up and do it like football or hockey. If there happens to be an upset, they reseed each round to make sure the highest seed always faces the lowest seed the next round.

Of course, this is all moot if Dallas comes back to beat Golden State, but if they don't, the Western Conference Finals is basically going to be played during the Conference Semi-Finals.

Dude, I've been preaching about the same EXACT thing to everyone and despite rooting for the Warriors, I still think it's ridiculous that they don't reseed because of the matchups as you mentioned. Opposers argue that by beating the #1 or #2 seed, you earned that seed and thus earn their would-be path. But that denies the regular season of any significance in my opinion and is a bit unfair.
