One of the most culturaly diverse cities in the world, and you print something like this? I know this paper doesn't have the greatest reputation to begin with, but who approved running this? The team just came off a disappointing season, tons of roster changes, a new coach and GM, and before the season even starts you throw controversy at the franchise and one of it's bright young players/draft picks? UGH..... :foottap:

To be fair, you should modify that to "Why Vancouver Sun, Just Why?" but yeah that was absolutely brutal for them to run that. Somebody should be fired on the spot for that.

I know, but there were two that actually ran it and the title would have been pretty long. Not meant as a slight towards the city of Vancouver itself.

Thanks - for clarification, the Vancouver papers (media members) are trash with terrible sports columnists. Also, both are owned by the same Pacific Press Newspaper Group Inc (Division of Postmedia), so it's probably one person in charge of both websites.

Hello Vancouver, join Boston in being a "racist city" because one moron couldn't control his fingers at a keyboard!!

oh my god! lol
Jordan is already getting some attention in the league.
Seriously, I don't even think it matters to Jordan himself but more to all other readers...
sometimes, we make a big story and the involved person don't even bother.
I would laugh at it if it would be me and try to score more goals to have my picture taken again. :)

How is it racist to point out that Subban is the dark man in the middle? I don't get the drama. He is dark, he was in the middle, and for those that may not know his number it was an easy way to point him out as the goal scorer.
. To me the hub bub is just political correctness gone wrong.

Strong agreement from me. My girlfriend (who is black) saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. As is often the case, I would not be surprised if the majority of complaints were from white people, many of them unsure of if it was actually offensive to the race in question.

I felt it was more inappropriate then racist.

And I think you are correct in assuming that the majority of the complaints were from white people.

I'm of the opinion that this has run it's course.

On Global last night, Both the Vancouver papers were laying blame on the photographer who supplied the picture with the inappropriate caption...

Anyways, print media employs people as staff & editors to review supplied captions and make corrections as necessary. In this instance they clearly dropped the ball.
