Will Brown be suspended?

What a great game but I definitely think Brown stuck out his knee on Rozival. I think he should get at least a couple of games but being the final, will he? Whats your take and prediction?
 
I say no. Like you said, it's the finals. I can't see the NHL suspending a potential Conn Smythe winner. Do I agree with that? No but I think he'll get a fine though. The fine is so little, it won't effect Brown though.
 
No suspension. It was such a quick, tight play that I don't know if there was intent.

I hope it doesn't overshadow what has been a great run by the Kings and what should be a great Finals (regardless of who they play).

But I think that it already has.
 
you are kidding, right? he hit him with his entire body. it was a collision just after the whistle. he didn't stick his knee out at all.
 
I don't think so. It looked like Brown didn't know what to do when the late whistle went and was locked into his hit. There was a collision, but it wasn't like that he leaned into him. He got the shoulder too, part of the body, and it looked like it was a upper thigh contact instead of knee. Rozsival cut across and had his head down.

Plus now that Phoenix is eliminated, Roszival isn't missing any more games. It seems like Shanny is taking that into account.

0 games. It was a legal hit and Roszival got taken out.

Basically Roszival tried to take the puck in even though it was offsides, then the ref blew the whistle right when Brown was about to put his shoulder into Roszival's chest.

You don't get suspended for legal hits. Besides, when has anyone ever gotten suspended on a thigh to thigh hit?

Watch the complete video. Check it out at 1:47, then 1:48. It was a legal hit, Roszival just got unlucky on a reckless play on his part...it is 3rd period in a tied elimination game, he's supposed to get a little reckless to win...but instead he gets hit.

I hadn't noticed until seeing the NBC replay but Brown led with his elbow in the upper body. Didn't clip him in the head but seems pretty dangerous.

I don't really understand the logic here. Roszival shouldn't have carried the puck over the blue line with the offside and that was reckless, fair enough point of view. But then by that logic Brown should have let up and peeled off. I don't believe you can have it both ways in this situation.
 
Nah, the league would NEVER suspend anybody for the SCF. Why, you'd probably have to maim someone and put them in the ICU/hospital for weeks in order to get suspended for the any games in the SCF.

Oh.... wait...

Given the total crapshoot on disciplinary actions this playoffs, who knows what they'll do.

Are there any ex-GMs of the Kings out there that were fired by the Kings that Shanahan could go to for 'advice' on if there should be a suspension and how long a potential suspension should be?

No suspension. The hit wasn't as bad as it looked. Brown DID NOT stick his leg out. He finished his check. He was already in that path towards Roszival. He just never had the chance to pull up.

I still think there should have been a 2 minute penalty but that's all.
 
I'll start off by saying that I don't like the Kings, so I'm looking at this with an unbiased view.

Sometimes knee-on-knee collisions occur that aren't the fault of either player. It looked to me like Brown went to lean in with his shoulder, and their knees simply hit together. He didn't move his knee, or lead with the knee, and Roszival didn't move his either. It's easy to say Brown should have pulled up, but there was no time between that whistle and the hit.....neither player is to blame, this stuff just happens.

I don't think this merits even a phone call from Shanahan.
 
Well take what you think is right and then go the opposite direction ... remember it's Shanahan making the decision.... He does not miss an opportunity to get some press.
 
Did they suspended Malkin in the SCFs? Enough said. They are not going to suspend a potential Conn Smythe winner.
