Whats the problem here? 2 hockey games in the outdoors, one in the USA, the other in Canada. So what they are the same day...

I don't see an issue. You're talking about 1 or 2 games out of a total of 1230 regular season games. If it gives you another game on NBC in the middle of the season, the NHL is going to be all over it.
Got to think though, if game one goes in Fenway, game 2 in a football stadium will be a little less dramatic.

I agree with you there, but if Bettman is using it to promote the game in the US (you know, his personal mantra that he repeats into the mirror 50 times every morning), we'll probably see Pittsburgh or Washington, or some other marketable American commodity.
Personally though - yeah, Flames/ Oilers would ROCK!

So how does this work out for Ty Conklin? Go to a team playing the first game and then sign a contract, hop on a jet, and go north of the border for round 2?

There could actually be 3 outdoor games. Ron McLean (during round 3) made reference to Toronto and Montreal also completing plans for this season as well.

I think his streak is going to end this coming season... of at least playing in the Winter Classic.

So which team gets to lose in the Stanley Cup Finals? The one he starts the season with, or the one that trades him midday on the 1st?
Ty Conklin is the Alien to the "New NHL" Predator. Whoever wins, we lose.

That game is to be played in Montreal in November, and hasn't yet been approved by the NHL.

I think this is a great idea and a real compromise to choosing where the games are played each year. One in the USA and one in Canada. It's been a pretty popular event so far the last few years.

-30C with wind chills of -45C, or a nice chinook with highs of 15C. Either one of those can happen very easily, and both could really kill the quality of the ice, especially the last one.
As for Flamingo opposition, it really doesn't matter, it's an instant sellout.
Flames fans - with the BOA being less of a big deal the last few years, would you rather it be Vancouver? That seems to have taken over number 1 on each teams' rivalry list.
