Wolverine24 - Shill bidder

let's all report for the fun of it. the worst we could do is piss off ebay with repeated instances of something they should be taking care of anyway. :)

with all of the data / technology that ebay has, they should easily be able to detect this.. I wonder if bidding 1 or 2 times on a single item is considered shilling...

This is nothing new for Wolverine, you Hockey guys might not know much about him because he deals more with high end NFL, MLB and NBA, then Hockey, but he has been Shilling and selling fake patches for years. His name comes up in fake patch threads/shill threads on another site i hang out on quite a bit. I used to spend $1000's on his auctions about 4 years ago. Ill NEVER buy from him again though.

You think they're going to kick someone off that generates that kind of money for them? C'mon.....if his feedback were 100, he'd have been gone a long time ago, but he's guaranteed money for Ebay and pretty close to untouchable. Good luck.

Was bidding on one of his low-dollar items tonight and could tell that there was a whole lot of shilling going on. Not impressed at all, so I will avoid him in the future.

Just also noticed he has more then one shill account the ***. I also made a point of emailing him and letting him know I would have paid much more then the high bidder in the auction I was watching however due to his shill bidding I would not even look at his auctions anymore.

Shill #2

Funny, I thought the name sounded familiar. I just won two auctions from the guy tonight -- for very good prices, I might add. Maybe he forgot to have his friends bid on those two :D :D

Edit: Not sure on the really cheap card, but the one that went for around $60, I can verify that the second highest bidder is another legit collector and an acquaintance of mine.

I'll post here if anything fishy pops up during the completion of the transaction.

Looking at the way the bid history is he's using them instead of setting a reserve because they all seem to be one hits and all within reasonable limits so that the cards still sell. The point however is that he is now in my blocked list.

I don't believe they are his accounts, I believe he has friends of his bid on his items...A person on another site was approached by him and asked to bid on the auctions for him, but he refused to...

He uses the shill bidders because he goes around to shows and just buys buys buys based upon what people want for their stuff, he knocks it down a little and takes it and just runs everything auction style. He buys so much, that he has no idea how much he needs stuff to go for...no possible way with the amount of stuff he buys.

Wow, this (as well as the shilling) is unfortunate to hear. :foottap: I won a few of his 96/97 UD Game Jersey auctions earlier this year for average prices...but if he's a known patch faker, then I guess he won't be getting any more bids from me.
