Worst NHL announcers (current)

Don't know if I'm the only one but I actually enjoy Jeannerate (SP?) from Buffalo! The Tampa guy though was pretty rough from those clips. Gotta hear a whole game before I decide if he sucked though!

I have always liked him too. Gotta love the "May Day" call and of course "LalalalalalalalalaFontaine!"

No time to play the video right now, but was the announcer from Phoenix (I think) mentioned. I love him because he sounds like he's calling a horse race...lol.

jesus christ that guy needs an audio program.

rick jeanneret is great,
so much fun to listen to, adds to a game.

the tampa radio guy, i agree, is brutal.

Pittsburgh guy's alright, nothing special, they shouldn't have fired mike lange, he was awesome, pretty sure he still does radio though.

TB was hilarious.

I don't agree with the other 2 choices though.

I hate Bob Cole, Harry Neil, and the other colour guy that was Jim Hughson's partner.

I think the whoel Versus team is just bad. for national broadcast the NHL shoulda stuck with EASPN, as they had some good talent callign games. Whoever called Habs flyers game two was just brutal.

A pretty biased set of clips from someone who obviously doesn't like announcers who get energetic.
Disgruntled Lightning fan?

;)

Jeanneret is an acquired taste. Personally, I don't like him but I can see why people do.

Thanks for posting this, I got a good laugh.

Kippis!

Bob Cole is an awful play-by-play guy...he must be too old because he misses things even on replays that I noticed during the live action. He should've been gone years ago.

Colour guys are the worst though...Pierre McGuire and Glenn Healy come to mind for nominees to be the NHL's representation on firejoemorgan.com. McGuire actually doesn't have bad analysis in general but he too often mimics the antics of in-studio guys for american football. The ones that think the louder you talk the more important/relevant/accurate your opinion is. Plus there's Pierre's tendency to verbally fellate various players.

Healy brings all sorts of suck to the table so I won't take the time to list why he's so bad.

Can't stand the play-by-play guy for Buffalo. Very whiny (yet at the same time sorta deep...) voice, and an even bigger homer than the Flyers announcers (except when Clement's on, he's sorta objective), which is saying something.

He definitely doesn't make his mancrushes a secret...and he can be VERY loud. I will give him one thing though, he makes a few observations a game, from a coaching standpoint, that most colour guys miss, or don't bring up often.
