Hi all,

I just saw on Facebook that David Ayres is going to be doing a autograph signing/play against him in shootout type thing tomorrow at a GM dealership. Is this a smart move during covid for Ayres, the fans, and the dealership? Would you go to this?

No. I would not go but I am sure they have proper measures in place to make it safe for all.

I hardly consider him famous, albeit he is getting full value out of his 15 minutes.

To answer the question, no I would not go.

Yeah, as much as he had his 15 minutes of fame with my Canes I’ll take a pass.

Now could there be others that I would go to see? Probably, but who knows

I am a biologist by trade. I specialized in **** i wish didnt know and never pursued as a passion. Put it this way. I haven't visited my mom in 6 months. I sure as F won't go see David Ayres LOL

Just not the right time to promote this type of interaction but leave it to a dealership to do so.

I’d have to think about it... unless its Sandra Bullock. That’s a no brainer!!!!!... Sandra...,if your a member here... PM me!!!! Cheers! Paul!!!

So..serious question then..
Not being wise azz.
I know you still buying cards and collections are you quarantining any new cards you got for say 14 days to make sure there's no virus on them ?

Inquiring minds want to know ...

The post office is doing that for me. So far almost everything I have incoming from the US has been held at the border for 2 weeks. I have ordered one item from within Canada and it took three weeks to get to me.

As for the question, no, I would not. Famous or pseudo-famous.

I've been seeing that the virus can generally last 2-3 days max on surfaces so by the time anything gets to me, the inside of the package hasn't been touched by a human in several days, meaning the inside of it should be OK. The 14 day period is for humans to show symptoms from the virus. Cards shouldn't need to be quarantined that long. When I get a bubble mailer, I cut open the top, slide the contents out without touching them, throw away the package, and disinfect my hands and the scissors I used to open the package. I suppose if you wanted to get really crazy, you could subject all incoming packages to a 72-hour quarantine, but it doesn't seem like that is necessary considering you can safely open it and discard the part that could be carrying the virus.

Also, I wouldn't go meet David Ayres, lol.

Glad this group is keeping safe. Sorry you are not able to see family, but better safe than have regrets.

I don't know who David Ayres is, so no. But hobby-wise, Covid19 was the only impediment to the one card that has consistently eluded me in the hobby (I needed in-person delivery and Covid19 left an uncertain timeline which was not OK with seller; seller took another offer). It was a 12 year stalk and hunt. I've held the card in my hand before kids and marriage and I feel like it has slipped away again,... this time for forever. Oh, well. Life goes on and I have peace with all cards out of my reach. Nothing to be held hostage for.

IF David Ayres was signing in Raleigh, NC, he would have an audience but his claim to fame as since passed.
Like someone said "Who is David Ayres?"
