So, I am working on the 06-07 Heroes and Prospects Complete Jersey set. I am 9/18 right now, 50%. I know of where I can buy four more of them, but for high prices. About 50% more than they are worth, IMO. $290 for four of them, and they are not the big ones. So I guess my question is, do I pull the trigger? The set is a few years old and they are /10, so tough to find. I have been working on the set for maybe 6-8 months? I may find these four elsewhere, but who knows? Advice? Oh, and the big guy in the set is Crosby, which if I find one will go for $350 plus, so I may never even complete the set.

If you can buy 4 more in one shot, I think you've got to do it. When you get to 17/18 just do an all out assault on the Crosby and you can probably turn one up somewhere. Plus, by that point you can save up enough to get it. Just hope that you don't pull the trigger on these 4 and then have the Crosby show up next week...

I can't really see the names... but if you, someone who has been following this set, feels it's 50% more than what it would be worth if it hits ebay, then don't do it. These aren't the last 4 you need, you don't have the hardest ones yet (Crosby) so it doesn't even mean your job is easier after acquiring these. That's just my opnion. I'm secretly doing the 06-07 SOTT set, but until I have the Lemieux SSSP, I'm not bothering with the other SPs like Brodeur and what not because I feel I can find those eventually.

I was in the same boat last week with a card /9 on ebay. I dont have the connections that most people have when chasing cards so I had to jump on it while I had the opportunity. I'm sure I over paid for the card but will I see another? Will I ever finish the set? Probably not.

Honestly? Follow your heart. If you want them that bad, do it. If you think you can get them cheaper and won't really be bothered by letting them go, then do that.

If it was me I wouldn't do it. I am usually pretty patient and would wait. /10 isn't like /5, they will pop up again though it may take 6 months or a year. ..or even two years.

I am thinking maybe word got around that you need these for your set and some of the sellers are holding the cards for ransom.

Easy for me to say...I know...since I am not actually working on the set, but I would wait for the next one and buy them for reasonably close to what they are worth instead of paying double.

If the prices are that much higher then I would have a hard time pulling the trigger. If it was to complete the set and you were sure to keep it , that would be a different story.

My thought on it is this something you are sure will go in your PC forever when you get the complete set done or is it most likely gonna get broke up and moved down the road? If you going to keep it forever I would pull the trigger.

Ben, I would wait. Like a few have said. You don't have Crosby yet and it you or intent to complete the set I would wait till the crosby shows up. Than go get it and than go after the other ones. If the seller would come down in price than maybe I would do it. But other than that I don't know what else to say but good luck

I'm assuming these are BIN auctions? If so, pm the seller(s) using the "ask seller a question" function, and see if they are willing to budge on price.

Just make sure if your going after the set that you have money put aside for the Crosby so you can nail it once it pops up. The lesser names will show up again but it could take some time . I would wait it out and complete the set at a slower rate and at a cheaper cost

Good Luck
Dean

I'd hold off...and I'd also use the contacts you have here on the boards. The Expo is coming up and there will be more than a few of us there willing to look for your Complete Jerseys. Someone else said it, but if YOU know you're paying 50% more than you need to be, I wouldn't recommend pulling the trigger just yet.

I would not move on any of it until you have the Crosby. Chances are you will come across one or more of them in the meantime, but then have to pay up for the finisher. Depends on your level of patience.

I agree with the waiting thing. Patience is a virtue...and it does pay off! ;)
Good luck with the set Ben!
Cheers!
Lu

Wait. If they are not the big guys then it really doesn't matter if you never complete the set so long as you have the better ones. Just don't overpay, you'll enjoy them less if you do.
