On the completed listing from PWCC, check out the person who bid $202, notice anything? Yep, it's the guy who is selling it now. I have a hard time believing 7 higher bidders all turned down a second chance offer, if the highest bidder didn't pay. Fishy? Yeah, all kinds of salmon, halibut, and tuna fishy if you ask me.

That's a kick in the nuts. I often sell top rookies upon release and buy them back for less later on.

To make $4200 USD on a card AND get the card back would be an absolute dream :D
 
I remember commenting that people were crazy for paying 5k for this card when it was released - heck 1 I think even sold around 8k, and me and another guy on here got disagreed with pretty hard from the majority of all the other board members. Oh no, cup rookies go up big time blah blah blah, NT is way better than the cup blah blah blah. I guess I am the one laughing! To the guy that paid $8k for the 4 colour, just think of all the nice stuff you could have bought with the extra 7k!

The MacKinnon gamer that Panini used for those last two products is a bit of an enigma when it comes to NT.

When word got out that Panini had a MacKinnon rookie gamer they said it would be used for the last two products of the season, Prime and NT. In Prime it was used for Prime Colors cards (shoulder patches and number patches) and a couple of other subsets like Genuine Marks (nameplate letters), Get Real (Meigray tag), and Seams Incredible (neckline seam). The card backs stated the material as game-worn.

However, the problem with the NT cards is the card backs were never changed to specify where the game-worn material went, as every MacKinnon memorabilia card in NT was stated as player worn. So basically the rest of that gamer was apparently simply mixed in to an unknown selection of subsets and it could be in anything from the /99 RPA's to some other random NT set. Also one of the NHL shield cards should have a game-worn shield in it, but only Panini knows which one.

Now why did Prime (which came out first) have game-worn cards that were stated as game-worn, and NT didn't? Who knows. My feeling is Panini had more time to create and print the game worn cards for Prime, but then when news of the license situation broke they scrambled and mixed the gamer into the NT cards so the material wouldn't go to waste but didn't have time to make new plates to change the wording.

At the time I asked Panini about it a few times and never got a straight answer, which I found odd since they were very openly promoting its use in the Prime cards. My belief is most of that gamer is scattered throughout NT but there is no way of knowing which cards are player worn and which are game worn. There's an outside chance that despite saying they were using it in NT perhaps they just held back the rest of the jersey and didn't use it, which I find very doubtful considering the way Panini cut every jersey in sight to load up those last two products with material and they paid $4,500 for the MacKinnon so it wouldn't have just gone to waste.

It's an unfortunate situation and in a way a huge waste of a quality rookie gamer since NT cards and especially RPA's would have benefitted from game-worn material and a clear indication of such on the cards.

Yeah you never know with Panini. They have been caught in lies before. To my understand all of the RPA'S in all sports are ''player worn''. Thanks FrozenInferno for the info.
 
Neither listing is really titled appropriately to show up in saved searches or other inquiries. That's going to kill the amount of views it gets.

It has the release, the player name, and a few other key hit generators.

What would it be missing?
 
The initial listing simply had the year as "2013", now it's "13-14". Something as simple as that will be omitted from several searches. Don't get me wrong, I know MacKinnon stuff has unfortunately gone through the floor. It's just little things to look out for to increase your chances of a better sale.
 
Maybe the year could have been laid out better (2013-14 / 13-14) vs. just 2013. That is about all I see. As for MacKinnon's card values, I think he suffers from the usual rookie drop off along with McNugget craze which makes him so 13-14.... He also had the sophomore slump along with a little injury time which didn't help his stats and the Avs weren't that good either. That being said, I think he will rebound next year and the prices will see a little boost (at least I hope so:)

I won the auction for this card. I bought it under a second ebay username because I have two unpaid item strikes and was going to switch accounts for buying due to not being able to bid on some items.(I have two unpaid item strikes due to refusing to pay for another card that I won that was shilled up over $200 and another where I refused to pay $18 shipping on a $51 card, the seller changed the shipping cost after the auction ended). I have it for sale under my main username now.

Just a little quirk on how prices go. I bought a few UD football packs back in the day (90's) and pulled the Montana insert. It was right before the book came out pricing it. I sold it for $75 right then and there. When the pricing came out, it was $75 but as everything goes in the hobby, it was down to $20 by the end of the season. I think it is listed around $3 now. One of the few times where I walked out with more than I walked in with.

BTW, that is crazy how that card was at $10K, but I remember that!
