Wow! Another great day - with today and Sundays haul, I may actually be overdosing o Hawerchuk! :D Here's what came today...

In the mail, we had this nice little baby for the PC:

Can't ask for much more from a Team Canada Emblem! Now just to find the gold one...

Next up... well, this requires a bit of an explanation, so please bear with me. I received an invitation from the owner of Jackson Events to attend a meet and greet with Dale Hawerchuk (go figure! lol) and Wendel Clark tonight. I agreed, and invited Dan Hurst (Tmlfan67) along, knowing he was a big Leaf fan. It was really informal - when we got there (almost a full 30 minutes early! lol) Andrew told us to go on in and meet Wendel. HE was sitting at the bar, eating nachos, so we just found a booth, cashed in a couple of our comp beer tickets, and ignored him. :) Me out of disinterest, Dan out of nervousness.

While I ignored him... Dan watched every bite and marvelled at the chiseled jaw... ummm... I digress. :)

Anyway, Dan and I had a good visit, and more and more folks kept showing up. Dan decided once there was 25 people in the bar area, it would be a good time to get Wendels auto. So we went over, Dan could barely talk, and got a beauty graph on a Captains piece which looks amazing. I decided to pick up an auto for a friend of mine, and this is what I got:

I chatted with Wendel for a few minutes (I think Dan was passed out on the floor from being so close) then we went and sat for a bit. It was then announced that if you bought a puck for $20, Dale or Wendel would auto it for you, and you would get a raffle ticket for some prizes later on.

Well, that deal was too good to pass up, so $40 later yielded these beauties:

The Hawerchuk puck is for the same friend (I owe him for the beauty display cases he made me) and I'm keeping the Wendel graph for me. You should have heard the Dash Domi jokes when I asked Dale to sign it to Dash. lol

After some more chatting with various folks, the draws started. The guy who won the autographed Hawerchuk stick had the ticket # one below me. Ah well... but I did manage to win 5 of these later on:

What the heck is that you may ask? Well, other than the fact is scanned terrible, the explanation is on the other side:

Yep - five passes to the HHOF compliments of honoured member Dale Hawerchuk. Pretty cool item for a Hawerchuk collector!

Anyway, that pretty much wrapped the night, though Dan managed to finally stop shaking enough to get a picture with Wendel. Me, I'm not photogenic, so no pics with Clarkie or Hawerchuk... besides, aren't you sick of me yet? :)

Some notes:

1. Dan mentioned to me that he still had a lot of cards to donate from the Cards for Kids thing this year. Luckily, Andrew hooked us up with a rep from the Easter Seals, and it sounds like they may find a good home.

2. Wendel likes nachos. I had to ask if he was sharing the platter in front of him before I could get something to eat. :)

Thanks for the read - I'm done 'til after Christmas... promise!

awesome story, if I ever get the chance to meet the ol' boy clark I'll have to make sure to bring along a cookie sheet full of my patented bbq chicken nachos with bacon & a 2-4 of Keets :D

(ask big tall, he's devoured them before) :p

Cory, you mean Ducky didn't see the man love starting to shine through yet?:p

I bet on the reverse of that HOF puck is his phone number........

Awesome story buddy, man, you're really havign a doozie of a week leading up to Christmas. Are you going to ahve a big let down if Dale isn;t at your door on the 25th? ;)

Kidding of course, congrats again my friend, you're a lucky SOB getting to kick it with your boy at the holidays!:D

Cory, great story. Thats cool that you invited Dan, he is one of the good people in this hobby. Sounds like you guys had a blast, congrats and best wishes to you and your family for a happy holiday.

Thanks.
Dan.

Thanks guys! It was a lot of fun. It's really neat to be able to meet these guys in person, and I'm really thankful I had the chance. Everything from here is going to be downhill though; I doubt I'd ever have a week like this again! Ah well... :)
