Hi folks,

use caution when dealing with Ebay user Rollerman76. He made an Ebay best offer to win my Cup Carey Price Scripted Swatches which I accepted then decided to welsh on the deal saying that "impossible for me to buy this card right now"

then why make a best offer and win it numbnuts?

I've added him to my blocked list and would have negged his *** had it been possible but of course Ebay in their infinite wisdom have made this illegal for sellers to do.

That's because there's no such thing as a bad buyer...only bad sellers.

No really. The fine folks at eBay told me so.:crazy:
 
Make sure you file the NPB and Final Value Claim. Giving him a strike is the only way of getting him off eBay since you can't leave negatives anymore.
 
Same situation with me, different buyer though spencer1988 made a best offer on my Lundqvist YG, and has not paid, nor replied to my messages...Too bad you'rs was a much higher end card than mine.

I'm going to be devil's advocate here (again). Apologies in advance....

What is/was his feedback rating?

It's almost comical the way our members here go off the rails when one single ebay transaction goes wrong for them. I understand if you'd somehow lost money or a card in the transaction. But if someone backs out of a transaction? Just chill. Keep it fun. Bad things happen to good people sometimes, and I'm sure if someone has decent feedback and they make you an offer on your card, they do so with good intentions. Sure it's an inconvenience, but if you're going to buy and sell on ebay you're going to have to take the good with the bad. You know what to expect going in. You know the rules.

I ask what his feedback rating is because that should be taken into consideration before writing this person off completely. I think blocking this guy from buying in the future is ridiculous. Give him a chance for redemption, he may wind up being a great customer. You know very little about this person. Have you ever returned something to a store because you couldn't afford it? It happens. Imagine if you did and next time you came back to Walmart they told you that you weren't allowed to buy from them any more.

Keep it fun people. These ebay rants are getting a little tiresome.

You make some good points. However, you don't have all the facts as I didn't provide our emails back and forth about the auction nor will I do so now. Suffice it to say, there was plenty of time to decide whether or not the bidder wanted the card during the offer/counteroffer process. He welshed plain and simple. I didn't say in my original post for you guys to block him- I'm not Big Brother. I said "use caution" as this is what happened in this particular case. I made my choice to block him as I have all the facts of this particular case. I don't give a rat's tuchus about his feedback score. As of right now, he has cost me nearly $14 in fees plus more importantly TIME. I don't consider what I've done "comical" or "going off the rails" either.

Which is why on some cards I just do a Fixed Price with Immediate Payment for cards that sell at established prices. I won't auction anything now unless it's en fuego, period the end.

Understood Dave, and I *did* apologize in advance for the tone. ;)

And I'm not referring specifically to you or your post tho' I did hijack yours for my little rant. Here's my point....some members here at these boards are held in high regards, and you are most definitely one of those people Dave. Read the subject line of your post. The typical response to that is a mob type mentality and who knows how far that will go? The punishment does not fit the crime. Hey, I'm all for posting information about transactions and how they've gone. Information is good. But this has evolved into a system where other board members are seeing these posts and rushing to their ebay accounts and blocking people and it's creating an extremely negative vibe. People need to understand the power of these types of postings. Perhaps our moderators should get involed and lay down some type of rules, same as we do for validating rumours and news reports?

As for the discomfort you whent through, the truth of all of this is that if you stay in this hobby and you buy and sell hockey cards, this is not the last time you're going to have something go sideways on you. It happens. Ask any hobby shop owner. Managing the inner rage is a big part of daily life for them. I have not sold on ebay for almost 4 years because of the stress it can cause. But if you are going to sell on ebay, you are going to have things like this happen to you. It's a fact. Don't let it ruin the hobby for you.

Can't you just leave the guy a positive and then write - Negative Negative negative, non paying bidder alert. Just a thought. :beer:
