Jason Chimera was hit from behind by Belanger and was taken off the ice on a stretcher. Chimmer gaved the thumbs up as he was leaving and is said to be ok.

-Belanger said it was a accident and said people know that he isn't a dirty player
-Nash said Chimera had no chance of defending himself
-Happened with 6 minutes remaining in the period and the refs said that they would end the period and play a 26 minute 3rd period
-Modin said he didn't see the hit but saw him on the ground with blood coming out of his head
-Chimera was hurt earlier and hte hit happened on his first shift back

*side not, Modin out for 3 weeks or so. Surprise surprise

Apperently another Blue Jacket on a stretcher!

Anyone have a link to a video? I'd like to judge it for myself.

Glad to head Chimmer is going to be okay.

I haven't seen a video but none of the Blue Jackets fans are pissed so it must have been a accidental hit.

From what I hear another Blue Jacket player (Tom Sestito) was on a stretcher after a fight with Tootoo. Not sure how serious or what exactly happened. Once again they ended the period early because of the incident.
*Never mind, the stretcher wasn't needed and Sestito was able to skate off the ice.

I hope Jason Chimera can return as well as Sestito in a timely fashion....as for Modin, stay on IR so we can see some more of the young guys come up to the big club!

Not trying to defend Chimmer, but I believe he's frustrated because last season he was on IR for a while (I believe at least 20-30 games?) so he probably wants to make a good impression so he keeps his ice time and isn't going to be put on the shelf for younger, "more durable" talent.....as for the hit only the players know what really happened....

From that video, it looks fine. Their was a lot of body crunching going on, and it made me realize that maybe it is a good thing I dont play professional hockey....

At any rate, Chimera appeared to take the hit at the wrong angle, belanger didnt look like he didnt anything wrong (from that angle). I am sure he is just frustrated at this point.
