Your least favorite players

Lets divide this into 3 catagories: that way we won't simply get "Any Leaf" etc.

1: Guys who came back to haunt your favorite team, or constantly burned your favorite team whenever they played. ie: John Leclair became a star after being traded from the habs.

2: General idiocy - on-ice or off-ice idiocy. I lost a lot of respect for Vincent Damphousse after calling Jean Beliveau an idiot, while I cringe every time Bill Guerin gets infront of a live microphone. I figure this is where all the Bert/Naslund/Moore hate will start to come in.

3: Guys who seemed destined to destroy your favorite team from within, whether it be by playing poorly for the team, a bonehead coach or GM. Mine has to be Rejean Houle. Not that Houle was a bad player when he skated, but as a GM, Im convinced his M.O. was to kill, bury then pee on the remain of the Habs.

Now come out swinging, but keep it clean!
 
1. Paul Ysebart - The man came to the Jets and scored like 5 goals, then leaves and scores 35, the curse of the Winnipeg Jets!

2. Daniel Alfredsson - I just hate the guy, his hair makes me cringe, but I guess it doesn't really matter cause the Leafs always spank the Sens!

3. Robert Reichel - Could this man be anymore of a waste of a uniform and an embarassment to any organization he has ever played for! I mean come on a slapshot on a penalty shot in the playoffs against ROMAN CECHMANECK!

4. - The SENS ****!!
 
1. Jeremy Roenick, I like the guy as a player and a loudmouth, most of the time, sometimes he just needs to shut up, but most of the time it's funny to hear him rant, but man has this guy killed the leafs for years running. Even with my boy Tucks all over em.
Guys who have burned the leafs, there's countless numbers really, how much of the league has once worn a leafs sweater. Guys who were stiffs here become stars elsewhere, sometimes it's because the leaf coaching is too stupid to realize the talent and give the ice time, or sometimes it's because they were dogging it. One guy who's photo is gracing dartboards all across Canada for this right now is Vince Carter.

2. Any of the players who bad mouthed Beliveau should really think about themselves for a long while, and those who said he doesn't know what he's talking about? they should be roshambo'd.
THis includes Brodeur, and Damphousse, among others, the french Canadian guys who ragged on him should really be ashamed.

Chris Neil ticks me off, Alfredsson thinks he's a lot bigger than he is, noticing a trend here?

Can I say Glenn Healy? I used to like Glenn, whenever I worked with him he was quite personable and pretty nice to converse with, bit large of an ego for a career backup, but, still overall a nice guy. But, this lockout has brought out some ugliness in him that's going to take a lot of work to get rid of.

3. Harold Ballard, would be the king of this.
Then there's the players.
Antropov, Berg, Ponikarovsky, Cory Cross till the leafs got rid of him, but now he hauntsme in Edmonton, where he's been better, but still.

There's probably more. mind's a little off after a souring mailday, which you'll see shortly.
 
I can only think of Yashin for Category 2. The guy just strikes me as a douchebag. His actions of the past really rubbed me the wrong way. Oh, and Jagr.
 
Haha, I can just see whats going to come of this thread....... but lets try to keep this clean, and not badmouth someone for saying something about your fav. player.

1: Adam Oats - This is just from when Jagr used to be my favorite player, He injured Jagr and put him out for a few games 2 or 3 times in one season.

2: Darcy Tucker - Sorry to half the guys on this board for this one, but I hate Tucker more than any other player in the NHL. He's just such a big **** all the time when he takes a bad hit or anything, but yet hes one of the mouthiest people on the ice.

3: Mario Lemieux - This comes from when i was a Pens fan aswell. I loved Lemieux when he played for them the first time, but when he came back the pens had $21 Million to sign Jagr, Straka, Kovalev, Lang and then a bunch of other smaller names. Then Lemieux decided to come back and he took around 11 million of that, and had to trade away lots of there better players cause they couldnt afford them. The Pens went from being one of the better teams in there division to the worst. He missed around 20 games that season..... I wont say anymore... i gave up on the team after that.
 
1) No apologies necessary for Darcy Tucker
2) Lanny McDonald (Killed the Isles often with big goals and plays)
3) Mike Milbury (enough said)
 
1. JR for the decimating of the Leafs every so often. Wayne Gretzky for the high stick in the playoffs a long time ago. Brett Hull, because I still think that goal in the World Cup was a high stick. There's porbably a few more, but those are the biggies.

2. I'll start the Bertuzzi/Canucks train here. That bunch, Bertuzzi, May, Burke, etc have to be the dumbest bunch ever. I am sure that some other teams have planned to get back at a guy and then pulled it off, but what were they thinking when they started telling everyone about it? Put a bounty on a guys head, and then act like you are surprised at what happened?
Also Glen Healey, just because I can't believe some of the things that come out of his mouth when talking about the strike.

3. There's so many to choose from, but whoever is in charge of drafting is usually a pretty good scapegoat. Where to start: Jeff Ware, Brendan Convery, Luca Cereda, etc, etc.
 
A Sabres theme...

1: Michael Peca. Refused to play for Buffalo anymore, and we got a bad deal for him. Hasek can fall into this category, too, but he's my all-time favorite.

2: Henrik Tallinder. Way go to getting charged with rape and kicked out of the Swedish Elite League.

3: Alexei Zhitnik. A good player, but takes some of the stupidest penalties I have ever seen.


If I had to name my least favorite team, it would be the Leafs. Player: Darcy Tucker by a nose over Eddie Belfour
 
Fun!

1 - Seeing Belfour succeed, and even win a Cup, after leaving Chicago irked me, but it's tough to hate the guy. I simply choose to root loudly against him now that he is a Leaf.

2 - Never like Scott Stevens. Ever. "Mr. Incredible Defenseman". Honestly, whenever there is a Devils game broadcast on ESPN there is so much praise heaped on him by the broadcasters that I think that he and Gary Thorne need to get a room :). I also didn't like the way he left Washington, but a drunken night with team mates seldom will end real well...

3 - Owen Nolan. Guh, I can't stand this guy!
 
1)Marian Gaborik- i dont mind him, but he destroys the canucks when he plays us.
2)Peter Worell- thats ok May taught him a lesson.
3)Mark Messier- thanks for your time with the canucks jerk.

have to add 1 more

RJ Umberger- we picked him in the first round and the guy didnt want to play in canada so he demanded around 2 mill just to play for the AHL moose. the guy couldnt even work a deal out when we traded his *** to New yourk for Rucinsky, he finally worked something out with Philly
 
1. I cant think of a single player really .... I hated a few players when I was younger like Tim Kerr and Darren Turcotte always destroyed the penguins when I was younger

2. I just hate gary Bettman more than anything ever since he changed it from wales and campbell to east and west coferences ....I hated him ....and the lockouts and everything have only helped it grow

3. I have always and will always hate Jaromir Jagr period a complaining little self centered baby ..... He never showed up for the playoffs his last season here and constantly faked injuries or over exaggerated them .....and is the most Impersonable player in person I have ever met ....
 
1) Ulf SaMUELSSON , i will never forget you(id like to get you with a crowbar to both your knees and hips)

1. David Volek - just for the 93 playoffs

2. Personally, can't stand Darcy Tucker, Jeremy Roenick (just retire already and because a broadcaster you know-it-all), and any of the multitude of meatheads that are in the NHL solely because they can punch and stand on skates at the same time (I can respect a guy like Probert who could play a little ... I'm talking about "pure" goons.

3. Tom Barrasso - for 2 reasons... first, David Volek and second, because off the ice he's the Barry Bonds of hockey. Also, honorable mention to Howard Baldwin for nearly costing Pittsburgh the Penguins...
 
1) Oh where do we start..Jeremy Roenick, for continually coming back to haunt the Leafs. Mr Gretzky for the 1993 high-stick...I'm sure I'm forgetting some Leaf decimators.

2) Daniel Alfredson, for getting away with the check from behind on Tucker a few years ago, and then scoring the winner. And for his guarentees last year, even though he came up short. And his hair. And the mocking of Sundin throwing the stick..and...

Chris Neil is also in this bunch. The guy always looks like he is going to cry when he gets upset. Most of the Senators actually fit into this group. The wookie known as Zdeno Chara, Havlat and Hossa, now Hasek. I don't mind Mike Fischer though. Ulf Samuellson for ruining so many careers too.


3) Let's start with the last season..Robert Recheil, Mikael Renberg, Nikolai Antropov, Alexei Ponikarovsky, for only playing when they want too. Pat Quinn for not playing the Leafs leaders more in the playoffs against Philly. Micheal Handzus played more then Mats Sundin. Wow. Mogilny for being so hot and cold with the Leafs. I think his stint in New Jersey took a little out of him. Trevor Kidd for being compared to a Mr Seive. Kaberle for never shooting. Aki Berg for being..well Aki Berg. and i'll end with John Ferguson Jr., only because he never offered Gilmour a contract when Kilelr was a free agent.
 
1) I cant stand Michael Peca..he throws enough dirty hits around and then cries when Tucker nailed him with a pretty decent hit I thought..was it a little dirty..yes but Tucker made look good.

2)Todd Bertuzzi..for being an idiot.

3)I cant stand listening to Glenn Healy...irks the daylights out of me.

Im a little surprised that nobody from Canada listed Gary Suter after that nasty hit he laid on Gretzky in that one game . :eek:

There has only been one player who I've generally disliked - Bryan Marchment. He always seemed to be out to injure somebody, for no apparent reason. However, I saw a report on what he is doing during the lockout, and my opinion of him has softened somewhat. He is the owner of a pick-up truck bed lining company. They spray on this stuff to protect the trucks from scrapes, etc. His mother does the books for the company and Bryan is right in there doing the work. He doesn't try and use his hockey "fame" to promote the company, based on what some customers interviewed said. All in all, he struck me as somebody who realized how lucky he had it as an NHLer and that he is willing to do a "real" days work once his career is over. Wonder how many others can say the same?

1 - Ed Belfour, knocked the Avs out in the WCF two years in a row

2 - Ed Jovanowski, Todd Bertuzzi, Dino Ciccarelli, Scott Stevens, Derian Hatcher

3 - I don't hate him but the Avs player I liked least for awhile was Martin Skoula. He was horrible for awhile but he's improved a lot.
 
Everyone who played against the leafs in the 80's.

Esa Tikenan( probably not spelled right), was a big pest in the 90's. Also Ulf Samuelson, wrecked the career of one of my favorite players with a cheap hit.
 
I have only one player to add to this. Eric "Softskull" Lindros. Wasn't he hyped up so much that he thought he could run the league? I believe he said his daddy said he didn't have to play for Quebec. You could probably blame him for the mess the NHL is in today with his unreasonable demands. So to me Lindros is the number one POS out there. No need for a number two or three.
