I thought this could be an interesting topic (like the "Rarest card you own" thread)

This one is for rare card(s) you own that are damaged.

here is mine, it is a 1/1 and it upsets me every time i see it. I bought this card the year the product was released and it was shipped to me in a PWE and get this, NO toploader, just shipped in a penny sleeve with a couple of decoys thrown into the envelope with the card....

it was bowing when I got the card... I kept it as it out of 10

This one came out of a case I purchased back when, I hoped UD would be able to replace it but alas they said there was nothing they could do, still love the card. It's damaged at the top (note the crease lines), damaged in the middle (scuff marks) & damaged at the bottom ( this damage looks like it was preprinting as there a chunk of top layer missing & printing over that). I've seen one other that looked fine. Needless to say I wasn't very happy that something could not be done, just wrote it off as well that's UD for ya.

Hehe yes I agree that Gordie Howe card is just too beautiful to be true!

I had this one sent to me and was damaged in the mail:

I did sell it since (as damaged) and got about 1/10 of what I paid for it.

Too depressing of a topic, this thread should be closed, so many beautiful cards tainted.

I agree with this guy!
That Cloutier & Howe were just painful to look at. At least with the Howe there's other copies out there, but oh man on a 1/1 card? That just stings :foottap:

I had a Patrick Stewart SPd auto/shirt from Donruss Americana...the seller shipped in a white envelope with no toploader. I was so stoked to finally have a Patrick Stewart autograph in my collection...

...and it arrived almost bent in half. It was shaped like a half moon. I wouldn't have minded as much if the auto wasn't damaged except for the fact that the card was 130pt thick and foil, so it looked like ***. Oddly, had it been a 30 pt card, it probably would've arrived unscathed.

I don't remember the print run (I since sold it at a loss to someone in person who had the time to examine all the damage,) but it was pretty low.

This happened a couple weeks ago. Card is serial #d 8/8. Same situation. Card in a soft sleeve, no toploader shipped in PWE.

I have an iPhone picture of the damage close up, but I've outlined where the creases are.

Such a shame. I don't see how any person could be careless enough to send ANY card in a PWE, let alone cards as rare as these, especially the Cloutier 1/1.

I realize this card isn't even in the same league as the Cloutier and Howe, but to a devils fan landing a rookie auto/jersey card is a big deal and its numbered 1/10. I won it on ebay for a steal so the seller sent it PWE.

You can see the creases on the left corners of the jersey frame and the lengthy crease across the neck area. I actually had to argue with the seller for mailing it PWE. Eventually, he refunded my money, and i sent it back to him. He obviously missed the point. A refund is irrelevent. You can't replace a 1/10. As Ron White says. " you can't fix stupid."
