The league decided there was no biting incident. Looking at a replay and drawing a conclusion for yourself without any investigation is silly. If a Canucks player had been "bitten" and it did not change the outcome of the game or injure the player why would u suspend that player. Most biting incidents in the past one being by Boston's Marc Savard when he was a Thrasher and Ruutu were clear biting incidents where they went out of their way to do it. In this incident Burrows and Begeron were in a long scrum that had Begeron put his finger in Burrows mouth after that only Burrows and Begeron know what happened. What looks like Biting to someone on the replay can easily be seen as attempting to remove it. Not to mention we shouldn't be talking about how classless Burrows is when Peverly gives a clear 2 hander to Bieksa's knee tonight to try and injure him. It runs both ways. I won't be saying if Burrows did or did not bite him as there is no clear evidence for either side.

That was lousy Pev...stick to the chest...

You should read the entire thread first. I called Peverly out on it the instant it happened.

The league just shoved a foot up its own collective arse.

Only way it could have been any better would be if AB had all 3 goals. But tonights performance was enough to point out the farce that the league has become.

To all the Boston fans who say "Burrows shouldn't be in the game" or "sending Mike Murphy a Thank-you card"...are you serious? Stop for just a second and think about your team and things that have happened as recently as last round. Give me a break. Your team might not have even been in the finals if Horton had been suspended for squirting water and throwing a water bottle into the crowd. Was that all that horrible...I don't think so either, but doing anything to fans is a HUGE no-no in the NHL.

Biotch all you want about certain things, but not about whether a certain player should be able to play or not due to their actions. Suspensions and "lack of suspensions" happens everywhere.

And one last thing before I'm done in this thread....GO CANUCKS GO!!! 14 down, 2 to go

You're kidding right.

What happened to fighting through adversity or collectively sending a message. Not once tonight did I see a Bruin go out of his way to call out Burrows, sure nothing would have happened but for a big rough and tumble team like the mighty Bruins, certainly there had to be one person in the group that was mad as hell and not going to take it any more. Apparently not.

Lets not forget that we aren't talking about a possible suspension to a Hart Trophy winner, MVP or Vezina Trophy candidate - we are talking about Burrows, a decent contributory player. Wow - there is no way that Ovy or Crosby are ever getting any type of suspension if this is the way that Burrows is being talked about.

The Bruins had every chance to win this game, they didn't. Ease up on the hyperbole.

The league made their bed when they failed to suspend a multiple offender 2 rounds ago on an absolute blatant cheap shot from behind. When they decided not to suspend him, I think they realized very quickly they would have a hard time justifying anyone being suspended unless someone takes a baseball swing at a refs head. We have seen a number of things happen after that incident where pretty much every analyst out there was saying the player would be suspended, and the league didn't suspend them.

The "Whine-O-Meter" just hit 10.......sigh.... here we go again. :(

The player and incident I am talking about was a Flyer, not a Canuck. And, in case you missed it, I gave Burrows and the Canucks a lot of credit in this thread. So if you are referring to me, please find someone else to troll.

I don't think he was referring to you, Tony.

Anyways, enough of this crap. I still think Burrows should have suspended for a game, but the NHL cooked their own goose when, earleir in the playoffs, they basically said that things in the playoffs that can affect a series have to be scrutinized more than in the regular season (paraphase).

And, if anyone thinks I would be screaming bloody murder if had been Horton on Daniel, you are sadly mistaken. I've seen enouugh strange rulings this year that nothing surprises me anymore, and I seriously am beginning to just shrug off every ruling that comes down.

Let's be cool for the duration of this thread, and not have it locked down.

The talk about Burrows has allowed for a very important thing to be overlooked in my opinion. Tim Thomas' play cost the Bruins that game. The first and third goals shouldn't have actually happened. He reminds me of Hasek, a great goalie to be sure, but he makes good saves look great, and puts himself out of position a lot. I can only imagine if Luongo had let in one of those two and then lost the game by one the knives would've come out.

Another thing that just keeps getting reinforced is that the Canucks are an amazing third period team. Doesn't matter if they're down or up they never seem to panic. They have dominated third periods this whole playoff run. And that is just another one of the many reasons that they are in this position.

Finally the Manny chant when the took the ice gave me goosebumps on top of goosebumps. Just amazing to see and hear.

The league was never going to suspend him he is a key to that team and they needed to be 100% sure that it took place and i mean really did it really hurt him even if it did gloves are pretty thick i threw one on and bit my self pretty hard and notta. They didn't suspend him so get over it. If he hadn't done it someone else would have stepped up and took his place. Vancouver is too good for boston and it is showing. minus the second period tonight vancouver has outplayed them pure skill and speed. the only reason boston was even close was the play of thomas other wise game 1 was 5-0 and game two was probably 5-2.

Wow! What a game. I'm more amazed that I pvr'd it and didn't find out the score until I actually watched it. Luongo is on his "A" game. Anyone who has said "boo hoo lou" etc. Should stick their head up a Bruins' arse. He is doing everything right and his puck handling has come leaps and bounds during this final.

I'll echo the sentiment that the "Manny" chants gave me goosebumps on goosebumps. Canuck fans are a classy bunch and it amazes me how much Manny is loved her after one season. ......

Back to you Seabass... :)

Burrows the RAT, scores the winner how fitting. I am sure Jim Rome will be loving that, and I agree what a joke. Dude should be suspended at least a game and nabs not 1 but 2 in the next game. Got to love the NHL.

Haters gonna hate (but didn't Horton throw a bottle at a fan?? Could swear Torts was suspended for the same thing)....

Edit: I enjoy this

I missed pretty much the entire game, but good vibes in the city tonight.

Expect Boston to be rockin' for game 3. Should be good times.

Just to clarify an earlier post of mine saying i love how everyone is hating us.I didnt mean Bruins fans because i totally expect you to not really like us seeing how we are playing you.Its other NHLers to be honest.I heard Ryan Whitney on the radio this week saying he can guarantee 90% of all other NHLers want to see us lose. The team is full of rats and he named Kesler,Lapierre and 2 others i cant remember.Really Ryan Whitney?Anyway should be a good game on Monday and we dont have to wait that extra day again.

No, he didnt...he squirted water in the fans face...completely different. Still classless, but very different nonetheless. Tortarella nailed a woman in the face with a full bottle...ouch

One of them was Bieksa and the other might have been Burrows. David Bolland said something along the lines of "it's hard to see them still playing hockey..." and said something like, "biting a finger, pulling hair in the past, seems like a girl to me".

At 1:33 Horton goes OUT OF HIS WAY to get the bottle
At 1:34 he sprays the fan with water and then throws it at him, almost hitting him in the family jewels.
At 1:54 you see an employee getting the water back from in the crowd

Like I said before, I don't think it was a big deal at all. I think the fan probably deserved it. Fining the player and undisclosed amount (max $2500fine under the CBA) is hardly dealing with it.
