Lol thats funny...i personally liked Kessel, sure he had some short comings on defense but to score 30+ goals playing with Bozo is impressive. I just hope this Kapenen kid pans out. Goodluck Phil the Thrill...
 
The Leafs got Kasperi Kapanen and Scott Harrington, plus a 1st and 3rd, and Spaling tossed in? Kapanen and Harrington are very highly regarded players to build around/with right? And they got a 1st and 3rd, I'd be happy with that return if I'm the Leafs (although I wouldn't have traded Kessel so...). I'm a little surprised Tyler Biggs was included but who knows.

Well Toronto fan Kessel haters, we shall see what this does for the Leafs scoring production moving forward. :corn:

Didn't they trade up in the draft a couple years ago to get Biggs? I feel so sick in my stomach right now on the return they got for him. They should have waited until his stock was back up. I had a bit of trust going with Shanahan, Dubass, and Hunter in office, but this just shot it all to hell. Mitch Marner scares me, too. He's one big hit away from joining Marc Savard. :curse:

Biggs was the only thing that I had to do a double take on when I saw it, but I think Leaf fans are going to love Kapanen and Harrington.

If they have any fans left. Can't imagine anyone paying $500 to watch this group of players down at the ACC? I know I won't be one of them. I will continue to support my hometown Barrie Colts of the OHL. Better hockey, and better quality for your money.
 
Biggs has been BRUTAL since being drafted. Redo that draft and he goes in the 7th rd, he's been that bad!!! Good deal for both sides on this one!!!
 
I don't have a problem with it. Couple good prospects a 1st round pick and only stuck with 1.2 million of Kessels cap hit. Everyone said he was unmovable due to his 8 year 8 million per now it's down. Good move for a rebuilding team ESP moving a 1 dimensional player like Phil. Good day for the Leafs
 
Scott - the majority of people weren't saying he was 'unmovable' as much as they were saying 'He's not movable unless the Leafs retain some salary and cap hit.' And that's what happened.
 
Now just get rid of Phaneuf as well. The Sabres way is the way to go, blow it all up, acquire more picks, tank and build it up again.
 
Yeah I know, there was no way to move him without retaining some salary. I was pleased it was only 1.25 (15%). Phil wasn't a great fit with this team and for a rebuild its a good deal....IMO lol.

Now, Hockey Feed, and Leafs Feed are reporting Kassian has been traded to Toronto for Prust, lol. How could that even be possible, unless it is a 3-way deal? What does Vancouver get, then? Me thinks they are smoking something over there? :rolleyes:
 
Yup, leafs fans, the one good player that you did have is gone....I would bet my next paycheque that his bags are already packed and is already on the way to the airport!!lol. I dont think he is at all heartbroken about leaving the city!!lol

Can you blame him? The fans, and media ran him out of town. Did he deserve to be criticized at times? Absolutely, but now we have nothing but has beens, and hopefuls on the team. Nice! :crazy:

No, I dont blame him at all....my best friends are Leaf fans and it was truly sad how he was treated and blamed for the team's problems. He was the one player that produced on a regular basis. He is whistling dixie now!!

I'm sad, but I wish him well. The only single player I collect, so I'm not too happy, but I may continue to collect him. Not like there's anyone worth persuing right now on my favorite team. From now on I am only collecting Hall Of Fame players.
