I agree with this, while I understand it is now more of a money grab, it's not fair to the other nations to have it held in Canada so often compared to the other countries hosting. I think $ plays a big part of this as they figure Canada has the support to host it and make money off it, but it does lose a bit of it's luster due to the cost and having it on home soil so often. If they only hosted it every 4-6 years, it would drive people to spend the money to see the event as they won't get a chance for another 4-6 years.
It's just sad as this tournament became "corporatized" just like the Memorial Cup and all they care about is $. Hell, there are talks that the US teams here in the PNW will never host the Memorial Cup again because you have to bid to host the MC. The teams in Everett, Kent, Portland, Spokane, and Tri-Cities cannot compete with the teams in Canada. Everett and Kent have two of the newest, nicest rinks in the WHL that would be awesome host buildings, but no way they are getting into bidding wars and spending millions just to host it.
